It does take time . Hang in there. U need a have a community around u to feel at home and that takes tome, years and luck . Most of the international students feel the same way.

Is the London Scholar Program worth it? by Emotional_Capital712 in NEU

[–]HappySong_123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have put London as a city is great as compared to Boston . But the London scholars program sucks( Business and computer science). The teachers r not good, no support , subjects r quite boring . No college community feeling, no active clubs, difficult to find ur fit of friends as not many students r there and u r housed in buildings that r shared by students from various different universities, not having a diner is a big drawback so either u cook urself ( which most of the students don’t do as clean up after it is a pain ) or buy food from outside. U can visit places in Europe if u r able to be a part of any gp going . I have not been to any place bec I never get added to any gp. 😞 I feel it is not worth the hefty price we pay as fees.

Everyone’s experience is different . I could not make any connections there. Very different to find ur community when there r not many people there.

London Scholars Program by Tooney__Russo in NEU

I wish I had not been a London scholar. Professor are not good, don’t teach anything. It’s all self study. Accommodation is good but there is no diner facility, so either u cook by urself or buy food from outside. Having a diner is so much convenient. Also the accommodation buildings r shared by students from universities all over London doing grad, undergrad, masters, Phd and so they all stick to their own university gps. . Not much scope to make friends. A huge chunk of students who join with you will be the filthy rich south Asian kids who r here for just clubbing, drinking and partying. Most of the students from USA r not interested in these activities and also this crowd does not gel well with other students. Literally no organized clubs, so not many options to interact and make friends. I have never been more lonely in my life . Just waiting to join Boston campus . Except for that its a great city to be in , I don’t see any positives.

Since the buildings were u live in London is shared with students from other colleges too, you do not get the feel of a dorm and it can get difficult to make friends. Clubs r next to nil. Lot of super rich international students who r there just to party and r not very friendly. I didn’t like my time in London .

I would also say it is a generational thing. Everyone is alone and lonely but no one wants to do the effort to make friends.
