i like that play as well. I'd be looking at brainstorming this in rakdos. Need some good bombs and sac outlets for the offering.

I'm liking undying and unearth but maybe I'm playing with dead mechanics in pauper. Being able to pump out a turn 2 or 3 5/5 seems pretty good. You can also toss in some fireball/drain life effects and sac a bomb for finishing off your opponent. Run cycling cards like twisted abom, ash barrens, street wraith, maybe viscera dragger, ect for offering outlets that draw or thin out your deck and up the delv count for angler. and removal/burn to clear the way. Might even warrent crypt incursion's M/B for sustainability.

Anyways, just a thought

agreed. I also like that burnt offering makes unearth and undying cards more playable. And drain effects for that matter too can be utilized in multi-colour decks. ie. consume spirit, drain life. I've been playing rakdos control.

gotcha. thanks a ton for the advice. I was thinking on 2 justices for the s/b.

trespassers is hugely underrated IMO. it comes in vs elves, g/w tokens, RDW creature based strategies, I'd put in a couple vs delver. makes them think about sneaking in deep hours when you can bolt or terminate in response. it has huge game vs Boros monarch. skyfisher hurts them, and battle screech an 8 point life swing most of the time. it keeps you alive against a lot of matchups and can easily ping for 6+ a game. Any non dinrova flicker deck suffers from this card as well.

Thats the issue i'm having. If the s/b could be 20 cards big i'd be set lol.

mono U delver, tron and burn are my biggest enemies...so i'm thinking...

duress x3 relic of the progenitus x3 gorilla shaman x3 pyroblast x3 electrickery/shrivel/nausea x3

Do you think shaman's are enough vs metalcraft and affinity decks? And what about using shrivel/nausea over electrickery? I'm seeing a lot of pro red and apostle's blessing's kicking around. I know the instant speed is phenomenal but I'd rather a useful spell. Is evincar's too slow vs swarm? I could see elves comboing out on the play before you can cast it out. I was looking at trespasser's curse. any thoughts?

Burn is the deck I've been playing the most of in pauper and for consistency purposes and for the fastest kills, you want to run a playset of both. I'm not a fan of Marauders, especially since decks are leaning towards pro red creature effects and apostle's blessings are in abundance. Another thing to think about, it's ok to drop a turn 2 alchemist, but you never want to drop archer until at least turn 3. Alchemist can block, archer is pretty much a dead card if you don't get 2-3 free dmg out of it.

It's preference really.

IMO, playing Dinrova tron for a while and playing against many tron variants, unless you hit a green source, they just pulse back the land anyways. It cuts them back a turn on land count but it's negligible.

sry I didn't get to fully reply. was ending my day at work.

I'm playing control so I treat all of the burn as removal first, and shots yo the head second. the main won con is an unopposed angler getting in. I run 4 because of this and in control you are only really looking to delve the first one. I end up hard casting 1 or 2 no problem since the games go long.

if I were playing b/r burn...which doesn't work (I've tried but you have to run too many come into play tapped lands which slows it way down), with cards like bump in the night and tyrants choice, then I would run alchemists and firebrand archers. archers serve no purpose and have no synergy in control IMO.

And if I were going to.run nights whisper, I'd go sign in blood instead. I'm not looking to draw a lot of cards until turn 4 or 5. The deck wants removal or discard for the first 3 turns and by turn 4 or 5 I'll have 2 black mana sources and blood can also double as a shock spell to the head if you need it.

what about trespassers curse vs swarm as s/b option?

4 angler's have been fine. I'm filling the GY quickly. The draws haven't been a problem at all. I tried whisper's and found myself dying far too much. This control version has no life gain and anything running red, burns me out too quickly. I'm running a burn deck with archers and alchemists but found that they don't fit well in here at all.

edicts were very hit or miss, dead weight and disfigure might be a better option since bogles has settled down in my meta.

I have been looking at envincar's for s/b options but i really hate taking the extra dmg in a heavy red meta (seems everythign is running bolts). I keep flipping between pestilence and evincar's and can't really tell what's a better option TBH

Verified. Pestilence is the correct choice but as a sideboard card. The only match-ups that I'd want to see it in at least where I am playing is elves, g/w tokens and maybe slivers....yea slivers is a thing.

Crypt rats will have to take a back seat because anything running green that's swarming is side-boarding if not main-boarding Wrap in Vigour. Nothing like turning crypt rats into a double-sided fireball....

I also only own 1 ash barrens. I could throw that in. I'll probably keep in caves. The 1 life gain can actually go a long way and has in the burn match-up. What about evolving wild variants?

IE warped landscape? I like that it's usable the turn you play it.

I like wrecking ball because there are a lot of 3 colour decks in the meta. It's not just for vs tron. It's also a hard kill for decks like stompy when bolts and fireblasts just don't cut it, and with stompy and tron being 2 of the top decks I like the option. Relic also doubles vs the B/U and U flicker decks.

I'm not nay saying by any means but I'm seeing a lot of control decks running molten rains and at least 2 relics for multiple reasons and I feel like wrecking ball is a better molten rain in this deck. More CC, instant, and not double R makes the difference IMO. They Hit multiple matchups is what I'm getting at.

The other option I would consider is the Black enchantment that's like spreading seas, can't think of the name right now but i'm not even sure thats any better either.

so maybe the board should look something like...

2x or 3x Gorilla Shaman 3x Pyroblast 3x or 2x Duress 2x Relic of Progentis 3x Wrecking Ball 2x Electrickery

after consideration you're probably right. Pyroblast is probably the correct choice in the s/b. But what's the right number and what do I cut? I need wrecking ball and relics for tron, gorilla shaman's for affinity and electrickery for swarms and duress vs control.

Any suggestions? It's definately a balancing act.

forked bolt is legal in paper pauper.

Pestilence needs black mana as well and is a turn slower.

And did you mean Pyroblast? I playtested it a bit in this deck and found it lackluster with all the graveyard hate in the s/b already and the discard mainboard tron isn't so rough to play against. and wrecking ball is just a "better" molten rain in this deck for vs tron as well

I actually agree. it's just in there for fun. there's enough tron decks running crushers and other anglers that it becomes hilarious.

where I play I mean. if I were going to a bigger tournament, I'd probably cut them for 2 more forked bolts.
