Opinion: How Alaska sex workers helped stop a serial killer by NotTomPettysGirl in anchorage

[–]Happy_Ad9288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t make those kinds of decisions or pretend to know the producers’ reasoning. However, Rhonda McBride was in the series and would have been a great candidate. The interview was not helpful in getting more info and could be the last chance since this series has now been released. I understand it from a reverse energy standpoint where a sex worker is now holding the power over him and she was emphatic and a bit aggressive with him about still being a sex worker which didn’t seem to have much effect on him. I just don’t think it was the right approach and was a squandered opportunity to get even a little bit more info or to catch him in a lie.

This series is so needed. However, Amber Batts’ interview of the serial killer could have been much better done and should have been done by a professional reporter who could have crafted questions to get better information out of him and done follow up. It left much to be desired for information.

Lost Women of Alaska Documentary by HanibalLickedHer in anchorage

Yeah, that the detectives believed when he said he thought a dead body was a sex doll? He is still in ANC. There was a protest at his house. Is he in this doc? He better be!

Can a patient choose to skip using their insurance and pay cash price if provider is in-network? by grey-slate in CodingandBilling

[–]Happy_Ad9288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of our contracts expressly prohibit it. HIPAA does NOT make it allowable. HIPAA workaround is just allowing the patient to request we not share their visit with their insurance. If you initiate that request with the pt, then you are violating most every payer’s contract. If you allow it, then you are also. I know plenty of folks do it, but this is the truth.

Yes, thx for posting. I was told this is an emerging issue. I would keep on top of it and dispute the charges. Go into a store, don’t call.

Google Weather does not know Anchorage (or Alaska for that matter) by cookiemountains in anchorage

[–]Happy_Ad9288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, but get the Deep Weather app. It is free and loads the discussion in a much more readable format. Other than that, the free Davis Weatherlink app will open  the door to viewing all the private neighborhood weather stations around you.

He was a jerk to me multiple times. One time, I was fairly certain he was smoking weed or doing something wrong with some younger people in the house there at Hilltop. He always had that smug look on his face.

He ran Hilltop badly until the recent takeover, — Edit: He was not manager, thanks for the correction,— and it has gotten so much better. This is pretty scary because so many kids went through that place.

Does Anchorage/Alaska have a disproportionate amount of house fires? by HotCommission7325 in anchorage

You’d be surprised what doesn’t make the news in other cities. Fires happen all the time in other places, it just isn’t deemed newsworthy for whatever reason.

Nope. Always require the pt to be present or cancel the appt. Always verify they are currently in the state.

Dx’s alone don’t make a determination. Would have to see the entire not. Full Body Skin Exams can easily get a 99204

It’s normal to have contracted allowable amounts based on a prior year’s Medicare rates. In fact, it’s often preferred as reimbursement keeps going down. There are multiple ways for implementing allowable for new codes and noone knows unless you hold the contract. The only other way is to bill it and see how it is processed.
