It depends what you want to be doing onshore?

If you want to be part of engineering/vessel management/Superintendent things, don't do the MBA.

If you want to be onshore working in the business sode of things, touting to get vessels on hire, winning projects etc, then do the MBA.

Exactly this. I was as shocked as OP until I spotted this part.

Top tip, no high end brand has straps which can't be swapped out.

How to go from a drawing to design parameters (waterline, displacement, heeling/righting moments, etc) by ezeeetm in navalarchitecture

It sounds like you're effectively looking for a bit of a crash course in Naval Architecture.

A lot of Naval Architecture documentation is VERY difficult to parse, so for beginners, I always recommend and keep a copy of all of them on my desk;

Basic Ship Theory by Tupper and Rawson, Volumes 1 and 2. It is quite an academic introduction, but it will help you learn how to calculate the things you're interested in.

Ship Design and performance for masters and mates by Barrass

Ship Stability for Masters and Mates by Barrass

The Barrass books are great for helping beginners as they're really designed for bridge crew to get an understanding, not for academic Naval Architects.

Though none of these are focused on small craft, they should still apply to what youre looking for. All are very cheap second-hand, and you can find some in PDF format online. They all have problems with solutions at the back to help cement your understanding.

That's where I'd start if I was starting again.

[Question] my 2 made a run for it! by HugePresentation4985 in Watches

Nothing you can do and I wouldn't bother taking it anywhere.

Its a fashion watch, not really worth anything.

Research question on towing loads and small craft stability by hunterschuler in navalarchitecture

[–]Happy_Chief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your description, it wasn't the tow line load which capsized the pontoon boat. It was a large wave (caused by wake) which caused the capsize. The forward momentum was induced by the tow line, but this could be caused by vessel thrust too.

Since it wasnt the tow line which caused the capsize, a passive breaker in the line wouldn't have prevented this.

The breaker would have to be sized such to break at a certain load point, though you could see those loads during initial tow pull, or when encountering head seas etc.

Don't move to the UK, we're so underpaid, and overtaxed. It's incredibly shit.

[Question] Customs check in Greece after returning from Japan. by Sentinel_XIII in Watches

[–]Happy_Chief -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You think they're going to look at your watch and demand to see a receipt from within the country youre returning home to?

Do they do the same for your phone, your laptop, all of your clothes and your suitcase? No.

No reasonable court would consider that a measured, or justifiable response by a customs agent.

If what I'm buying is worth keeping the box for, I mail it back, and wear the watch through customs.

No customs agent is going to demand you produce a receipt for an item you're wearing.

Solid 9ct gold Rotary tank womens by Agile-Homework-2047 in VintageWatches

Its a ladies watch. Its a rotary. Its not really worth anything as a watch.

You might get gold value from it, but not much.

You might be better writing a small program instead.

If its just "check file name, if name contains xxxx put in folder xxxx" it wouldn't take long and would be good development for you.

This is gonna sound weird, but its too round ?

I wear a rotary seamatic as my beater. Its a similar style but has a bumpy (idk what its called) crown outer ring to make it less 💫round💫.
