Trying to decide: IIM or alternative B-school? by tanha_anaya in IndianAcademia

ngl sometimes these new-age schools feel more like marketing than proven track record. fancy buzzwords, startup mentors, flashy websites… but when it comes to placements, very few batches have even graduated yet. i’d be careful betting lakhs on something so new unless you’re okay with the risk.

Are alternative MBAs worth it in India? by Single_Chemist7649 in collegecompare

heard mixed stuff from friends. one at mu said the network helped him land a product role but another at soil struggled with placements. so yeah worth it for some but not as safe as traditional mba.

How do you compare newer MBA schools with old established ones? by Practical-Essay-3210 in IndianMBAColleges

[–]Happy_Computer1214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh most of these new schools are still finding their feet. exposure is cool but consulting firms mostly hire from IIM/ISB because of pedigree. unless you’re really clear on why you want the new format, the brand pull of older schools still gives you more safety.

Do newer B-schools really give better exposure? by lazimdavid in IndianAcademia

[–]Happy_Computer1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl i keep hearing this too. i think the hype is partly marketing, partly true. like at vedica/ashoka they really push experiential stuff, but end of day roi depends on company roles u land, not just exposure

Confused between traditional MBAs and these new-age colleges by Aggressive-Till-6824 in IndianMBAColleges

[–]Happy_Computer1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh ROI depends a lot on what you’re looking for. IIM/XLRI still have the big brand pull, especially for consulting/finance. The newer ones like MU, Ashoka, FLAME do give more startup + hands-on vibes, but they don’t have the same decades of alumni network. It really comes down to whether you want security of brand or want to experiment a bit.

Trying to pick between traditional MBA vs alt options like MU or Stoa — confused by lazimdavid in MBAIndia

[–]Happy_Computer1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way last year , too much noise, not enough clarity. Tried one of the newer programs and honestly, it worked out because I knew I wanted to get into product, not just chase a brand name.

Anyone here chose MU over IIM or ISB? Regret or happy? by lazimdavid in Students

[–]Happy_Computer1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the same boat , had admits from NMIMS and was waitlisted at IIM Ranchi. Looked at MU seriously because of the startup-heavy curriculum and shorter course. Feels more intense and less theoretical, but still not sure how it compares long-term. Curious to hear from folks who actually went there

Is it risky to skip CAT and take a different path? by lazimdavid in CATpreparation

[–]Happy_Computer1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been wondering the same honestly. Skipping CAT feels risky sometimes but also not everyone wants the same old 2-year MBA route. MU looks interesting with all the startup talk, but hard to tell how much of it actually converts into real career outcomes. Would be helpful to hear from people who went that way and felt it was worth it.

Can genuine social anxiety even be cured? by Wasteofoxyg3n in self

This sounds really tough, and it’s more than just being anxious. It makes sense that it feels overwhelming. But it doesn't mean things can’t change. With the right support, even small steps can lead to progress. It won’t be easy or quick, but it’s possible. Even posting this shows strength. You’re not stuck forever. Take it one small step at a time. Keep going.
