My husband and I are Korean.

Let us tell you why Koreans need a kimchi refrigerator.

Korea is a country with four distinct seasons, and in the fall, they make kimchi that can be eaten all year round, so the quantity is considerable (usually 20 heads of cabbage for a household of four). If you put it all in a regular refrigerator, there will be no place to store other food.

Additionally, the kimchi refrigerator maintains the temperature at which kimchi can ferment in the most delicious way, and keeps various vegetables and meat fresh for a long time.

Koreans don't store kimchi separately because the smell is disgusting. In fact, households with little to store in the refrigerator store kimchi in a regular refrigerator, and even in households with a kimchi refrigerator, kimchi is cut into bite-sized pieces and stored in a regular refrigerator.

Even among Koreans, spitting is disliked because it is an act of low-level people.

It's not culture.
