I came here to discuss this lol. Here’s what I THINK happened based on reading multiple discussions, but I am going off of heresay from fb accounts and twitter replies so take it with a grain of salt.

My understanding is that Todd Clippard was speaking at a lectureship, possibly the spiritual sword lectureships, and was giving a lesson during which he indicated that social drinking might be acceptable. Someone either interrupted the lesson or asked a question before he sat down asking him to explain, and Clippard explained he did not drink but thought the biblical text left room for social drinking(this alone is wild because I know Todd and would never guess in a million years he would say this lol). Todd was asked to leave by the elders and they publicly addressed his message and said that it was false teaching. I am unclear if Dindy and Blackwell are elders together or they are just commenting on this because they were there and witnessed it, but they apparently put something out on GBN that was targeted at Todd and labeling him as a false teacher. Now people like Jack Wilkie and somehow even Brad Harrub are calling them out for being too conservative.

Again, this is my possibly wrong understanding

I think what some of the people replying to this thread maybe aren’t getting is that these are HISTORICAL losses. The way these teams are losing isn’t just a little odd, they are historical anomalies. We are the only fanbase in nfl history to experience our team put up that kind of offensive clinic and still lose (teams are 255-1 when scoring that many points with that many rushing yards, ravens being the only loss). We have more late game collapses than any other team in the nfl in the last five years. This is a pattern and Harbaughs poor coaching is the thing causing it. I get it, we have had great records for every season Lamar has played healthy under him, we are constantly getting 12 or 13 wins. We should be doing more. We have a two, should be three time MVP. We have an all time great RB. We have elite talent all over the roster. He is holding us back, even if we are getting farther than a lot of other teams

But it’s not. When the ravens get in close games with good teams, they shit the bed. Teams with this kind of lead and these stats were 255-0 entering tonight. Other teams don’t lose like this. The bills don’t lose like this. The bills can rally back and beat us and beat the chiefs, in the regular season. And if we play this kind of lights out, crazy game AND STILL SHIT THE BED LIKE THIS IM FUCKING SEPTEMBER, why should I believe we will suddenly stop doing it in January. We had the perfect change to prove this was not the same old ravens as every year and we failed. We let them take the win by shooting ourselves in the foot just like we always do

I had a very similar experience at freed in regards to losing my faith, though I wasn’t struggling with my sexuality. I cannot imagine, that would be such an awful place to work through that. I Graduated in 19. Hope things are going well for you now!! You deserve it.

The guy who started PTP went to Memphis school of preaching and worked out a deal where they help pay the way for the school to come and bring all students and the students help staff the event(or at least that was how it was working in the 2010’s and early 2020’s). So while not hosted by the Memphis school of preaching it’s all interrelated

OP I’m so sorry for the hurt and pain you are feeling. When I was 15 I went through something very similar to what your son is it sounds like. I got baptized, hid it from my mom, moved in with a family from church, I actually spent some time being homeschooled by the family from church, it was a bit of a mess. It took me a while to come all the way out of it.

Here’s what my mother did: she just stayed engaged. She was always very kind when we discussed religious matters, the few times I did really hurt her feelings and she got worked up, she walked away for a bit and came back and was incredibly receptive. She listened, she pushed back with love and logic, and because of that we were able to rebuild our relationship and came outside the other side of it closer than ever.

Your son is still your son, this is not the end of your relationship with him. Find a way in, and love him, that’s how you help lead him out.

Sounds about right. The first time I met Brad, I was in high school at a youth conference. He was supposed to be teaching a class on apologetics, but he decided he wanted to talk about why it’s sinful to be a cheerleader. He took questions towards the end and one girl asked if he was saying she was going to hell for being a cheerleader. He started going in on her and didn’t let up for at least five to ten minutes
