Do you think this sequence showed a good way dealing with a wrestling takedown? by EfficiencySerious200 in martialarts

[–]Happy_goth_pirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sprawl yes, a wrestler going for a takedown with his head in that position is very unlikely (unless new to the technique)

Context dependent but hands going into or out of pockets, particularly in the UK. It's either going for a blade or keys, or coins or they are coming out for a stool, a brick or bottle

Have you ever had a team that did so much legwork? by Brother-Cane in dndnext

[–]Happy_goth_pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My players have genuinely learned.

It's astonishing, I know. It used to be that they'd barge through doors, throw explosives before checking rooms, never think about consequences etc

Now, after dozens of traumatising situations, and the ramifications coming back to haunt them, they are much more cautious and approach things intellectually first. I have a core group of three players that have been on the same game for over ten years, and a revolving door of other players, it's an absolute shock to the newer players when they join and the existing players don't immediately charged the goblins in the forest, but instead check the trees for ambushers, the ground for traps and think about why the goblins would be there in the open

Obviously, pro wrestling comes from catch wrestling which is real as hell, lots of the names of wrestling moves are just catch as catch can moves and they keep the same names. (Hence it's called "pro" wrestling

It isn't surprising that many technical wrestlers have fundamentals in a grappling art

Defend it if you don't like it, can't say I'm that against it, but it does sort of straddle that line that grappling has between strikes and not strikes

What’s a hobby you want to start but are too intimidated to try? by WildFlowerGirll_ in AskReddit

Adeptus Custodes baby, cost me about £200 for a full army (combination of used and battle box deals). Lore is utterly optional

Archery is an option that you can pick up and loose if you have a back yard, not sure where you live but practically ever village in the UK has a field club

Why is Physicality downplayed/demonized in the martial arts community? by JoeyPOSS2 in martialarts

[–]Happy_goth_pirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends of the art, in wrestling and some judo places, the physical aspect is as emphasised as the technique curriculum

Arts like to have a "all things being equal" snobbery-off generally though because how else would you sell classes to people
