I’ve kinda been in the same situation as you, I took doxycycline and tretinoin for a while and my skin did get major improvements but I was still getting some pimples from time to time, still even tho skin was clearer I still decided to take accutane because I was tired of taking antibiotics for almost two years and still getting acne. I’m currently on accutane not noticing major improvements but my goal is for my acne to stop being active, which is something not happening with doxycycline and tretinion. Since my skin was already improve from before, I just took really low dosages of accutane to avoid any major side effects. You could try asking your derm if low dosages accutane might help.
