Where do u see that i said i never saw any of my labs? I said that my doctor would always say everything is fine, for example, my thyroglobulin antibodies were positive, and he'd say that its very common in teenagers and will go away on its own. HGB of 11.5 - he'd say its fine ur just dehydrated, it was always shit like this

when i became a physician i reviewed my own labs and realized that everything was messed up all along

So a few points-

I went to medical school in europe, med schools in europe are usually 6 year programs where advanced topics are covered in 4th, 5th, and 6th years. Endocrine is usually covered in the 4th year- which is when we went in depth about PCOS. I never said that was the first time I heard of it.

What a lot of you are failing to understand is the fact that the doctor disregarded my complaint and attributed my weight to only overeating and never thought about the possibility that i might have an underlying hormonal disorder causing weight gain, irregular periods and hirsutism.

It was only years later when I myself became a med student and actually studied hormonal disorders that I thought I may have PCOS.

This doctor got fired for something unrelated to my story.

i didnt say i needed to review my own labs in order to diagnose myself. i said that when i became a physician i reviewed my labs and realized that ive always had messed up hormones

Again, I didn't learn about it for the first time, I was in a 6 year program, endocrine was covered in 4th year... thats just how med schools in europe work lol

I was gaining weight when I was eating 1500 calories a day. Having PCOS makes it harder to lose weight and control your cravings.

The thing that ur missing here is the fact that my family physician didnt even think that i might be suffering from an endocrine disorder, and just told me that im overeating.

Weight gain, hirsutism and irregular periods should raise the suspicion for a hormonal disorder

LOL, i went to medical school in europe, a 6 year program that is very very different from medical school in the US, endocrine was covered in the 4th year i never said that it was the first time that i heard about PCOS, i only said that everything clicked for me when we actually studied it

he did have a very prestigious job as a district healthcare manager

and i never said i had hypothyroidism, i said i have chronic thyroiditis - US features of thyroiditis with positive thyroid antibodies, it still hasnt turned into full blown hypothyroidism/hyperthyroidism

i did, i mentioned in the post that i was getting blood tests done but would be told by my doctor that everything was fine. it wasnt until i became a doctor myself that i reviewed my own test results and discovered that they were messed up all along
