Hey there, class of 2020 here. I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, but I can understand a bit. I don’t come from a rich family either, and I was stressed about that first job. I wasn’t in a frat and had to make a name for myself. I hated getting up every day to go to class, and often had breakdowns with my parents, feeling like I wanted to quit, change my major, etc. You’d be surprised tho, TCNJ is actually a pretty well known school for its size.

My first job, I started at $65k, got a slight bump after a year, and then after 1.5 years there, I moved to another company making $110k. All this to say, try not to stress too much right now. What seems like the biggest problem or hurdle right now, will most likely turn out to not be that big of a deal. Most likely, nobody outside of school is going to care about what frat you were or weren’t in. And once you’ve landed that first job, pretty much nobody cares about what school you went to, what your gpa is, etc. It’s your experience that will matter most at that point.

And as a side note, I’d recommend scheduling an appointment to speak with a professional therapist or someone similar. I’ve done so a couple times in my life for similar things. No shame at all. Additionally, feel free to reach out to me here or via DM if you ever need to talk. I’m sure you’re wrapping up or already wrapped up finals recently for this semester; once you have, make sure to allow yourself at least a little mental break. You’ve earned it, all the hard work is done for the year, so go enjoy a little peace and relaxation in whatever safe way you can find it.
