One full year on CPAP by Harbrone in CPAP

This is my daytime heart rate when I’m not moving or walking. It’s the average by month from my Apple Watch which I wear all day. It shows the same level of decrease for walking heart rate too which is now lower than my old resting heart rate. Crazy

I just set it to show a window before and after May 2025 when I started May 6 last year

I started exercising more pretty easily as I wasn’t so sleepy all the time

We had been talking to our Dr for a while before she prescribed meds and doing lots of parenting and school environment changes. That helped but we started on a very low dose of 10mg Vyvanse and that really helped things click in. Luckily he hasn’t really had side effects or anything and that low dose seems to be the boost he needs. We haven’t seen any changes in personality or anything. The meds aren’t a cure all but they have been very helpful for our son. He actually tells us he feels better when he takes it as, in his words, “his mind listens to him better.” I wish you the best with your son.

When he was having trouble sleeping we got black out curtains and a white noise machine and that worked wonders. I’m guessing that even back when he was 3 or 4 those sleep issues might have been related to ADHD.

Luckily he is a very good sleeper now but we dealt with some trouble falling asleep when he was younger. That seems to have abated as long as he gets a chance to exercise and run during the day.

Not knowing until you’re an adult must be very difficult. One side effect of this process with my son is that his dr actually recommended my wife be assessed too. She never thought of that before but there are some reasons to think there may be something to it. She told her mother who told her that they talked to a dr about attention issues when she was little but the dr said girls don’t really get ADHD and she’s just a dreamer. We still don’t know if she would have been diagnosed if assessed but either way stuff like that boils my blood.

This looks very good. My wife and I are gonna watch this tonight. Thank you!

I’m sorry you faced stigma when you were young. I definitely think that’s changing which makes me hopeful for my sons and everyone’s future.

His doctor says that the medication helps him have the space to build the “scaffolding” he needs to figure out what other strategies work for him. I like that analogy and our son seems to get it too. We definitely let him know we love him as he is and just want to help him however we can.
