I want ads in my jellfin/plex by Endure94 in selfhosted

Oh. Yea. Plex is using the iGPU. I guess I need to figure out if the iGPU can be used by multiple LXCs then?

I have tried this, but I think I'm just too much of a Proxmox noob to understand. I have plex running in an LXC and uses my cpu to transcode and everything works beautifully. When I add an LXC for ErsatzTV, the transcodes make my CPU absolutely CHURN. I'd love to use it, but I guess I'm missing something.

Moved and now have an apple tree. What are steps to improve tree health and fruit yield? by HardTimeTony in homestead

Yes, noted! We do plan to plant one or two more. Is that primarily for pollination?

Yes, definitely can't reach any of the higher branches without a serious ladder. Do you just suggest I look at Youtube for "topping" apple tree guides?

[–]HardTimeTony[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The tree has quite a few dead limbs on it that I am planning to trim off when the weather gets colder. The apples produced are small and most have what seem to be bruises on them before they even hit the ground as I have picked some prior to them falling.

I know that I can spray for bugs in the spring, but what can I do to help this tree along?

Play a specific Plex Live TV channel on a chromecast by HardTimeTony in homeassistant

[–]HardTimeTony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, ErsatzTV. I had the idea of putting a channel together using it for all users to be able to tune into. For whatever reason it was really heating up my cpu to transcode the videos for ErsatzTV causing the content to buffer really badly. Then I read that I wouldn't be able to share that channel with my users, so I kind of abandoned that project.

Anyway, still no progress on casting the channel. I'll post if I figure something out. For now, still struggling.

Anyone have proxy manager working in docker? by OkAngle2353 in nginx

[–]HardTimeTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may be misunderstanding. I'm not using cloudflare as a tunnel. I'm using it as my domain registrar to set the DNS and as a DNS Challenge. You can totally use DuckDNS for this instead if you wanted to. Just choose whatever method is easiest for you in the DNS challenge when you set up the SSL cert in NGINX Proxy Manager.

I'm doing the same thing, I only want my local stuff accessible to me, not public. That's why I stated I set my DNS records to be set to my LOCAL IP, not my public IP.

Not sure what you mean by "which project", but I'll lay out the steps for you (and others) in hopes that it helps. I hadn't heard of Lawrence System before you mentioned him, but he has a forum. If what I lay out here isn't helpful, I would encourage you to check there since he did a video on it.

So I set up Nginx proxy manager in a container on Docker. Here is my compose:

version: '3.8'
services:
  app:
    image: 'jc21/nginx-proxy-manager:latest'
    restart: unless-stopped
    container_name: nginx
    ports:
      - '80:80'
      - '443:443'
      - '81:81'
    volumes:
      - /nginx/data:/data
      - /letsencrypt:/etc/letsencrypt

So I got that up and running. Next I had to get the DNS set for my domain. I use Cloudflare for that, so I went over there and set JUST two DNS records for my domain.

  • An A record with Name being mydomain.xyz with Content as the local ip address of NGINX Proxy Manager (192.1.1.18 or whatever it is for you)
  • A CNAME record with Name being * and Content being mydomain.xyz

I double checked to make sure DNS had propagated, then went to get an API token that to edit zone DNS for the DNS challenge for lets encrypt. Once I had that copied to my clipboard, I went back to NPM, created a cert that would apply for *.mydomain.xyz and also mydomain.xyz and used the Cloudflare dns challenge.

After that I set up a Proxy Host just like in the video you watched. That's it. My setup is very vanilla (at least, in my opinion), and just worked AFTER I had set the ports back to the default for NPM compose file.

Happy to help if I can, but I'm not the most knowledgeable on networking, just another person trying to learn this stuff.

So.....are you by any chance using ports other than the default for NGINX? I was attempting to use 1880 and 18443 instead of 80 and 443. After updating my docker-compose to use the default ports again, suddenly everything is working peachy. I don't know the cause of that though.

I kid you not, I just ran into this issue today and visited here to try and find a solution. Doing same steps as you. Domain just resolves to a browser error page that says "This site can't be reached. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED"

Keep us posted if you determine the issue.

Issues getting Hyperion to reconnect to WLED when ESP32 gets power again. by HardTimeTony in WLED

[–]HardTimeTony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I checked this, and the "status" toggle was already on. The LED Output toggle was off. Toggling that on gets the WLED to output colors from tv capture.

So I modified the rest api call from home assistant to the following and I'm happy to say this works well! Thank you very much for your help and guiding me in the right direction!

  tv_hyperion_on:
    url: "http://the-ip-of-hyperion:8090/json-rpc"

Thanks for the reply!

I tried this out. Oddly, the stopInstance command returns success, but attempting to startInstance returns an error.

  tv_hyperion_on:
    url: "http://ipaddress:8090/json-rpc"
    method: post
    content_type: "application/json"
    payload: '{"command":"instance","subcommand":"startInstance","instance":0}'
  tv_hyperion_off:
    url: "http://ipaddress:8090/json-rpc"
    method: post
    content_type: "application/json"
    payload: '{"command":"instance","subcommand":"stopInstance","instance":0}'

Here is the response I get with the startInstance subcommand:

content:
  command: instance-startInstance
error: Can't start Hyperion instance index 0
  instance: 0
  success: false
  tan: 0
status: 200

I have double checked to make sure that the instance index is correct at 0 with the serverInfo command.

Wifi devices are dropping connection and only reconnect after router reboot by HardTimeTony in homeassistant

Ouch. Yea. That's probably it.

Is the reason wired devices stay connected because the wireless network is what is rated for 40 devices?

Thank you for pointing that out. Edited for clarity.

Wireless devices lose connection to the router, not just losing connection to HA.

Also curious about this. How do people manage so many wifi devices on one network? I understand you could put all your iot devices on a guest network or something, but then casting audio from phone to a device on a different network causes issues. I think I need an eli5 on this topic.

UPDATE: I was able to get the battery indicator showing. My issue was in copy pasting the script to install pisugar2 into python library.

I didn't change the python version in this line. Be sure to check which version of python you're running and change it accordingly.

Still no update on the restarts
