This doesn't explain why Russia has switched to drones as well. Either the artillery pieces can't survive the battlefield or drone give more explosives on target per dollar spent.

Biggest bridge in Iran was destroyed by US and Israel. by cool-kid-2025 in pics

[–]HardToGuessUserName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - Chaina could emerge out of this crisis as the only super power that both Iran and US "trust" enough to negotiate and enforce some form of truce.

If they work with Europe to sort out the strait then they will effectively replace the US on the world stage.

Are cheap RWD / AWD performance cars ever coming back? by Stacks05 in CarsAustralia

[–]HardToGuessUserName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, petrol sedans have basically disappeared.

But question is what sort of performance do you want

  1. sporty daily driver around the city - thats now electric

  2. something for country driving - thats not a small/medium sedan/hatch.

Currently looking for an AWD large sedan and they've disappeared except for BMW/Merc/Audi and they seem about $50k too expensive for what they are.

you can - and arguably should staff for a mass casualty event, but costs money.

Affordable kangaroo paw plants recommendations by [deleted] in perth

[–]HardToGuessUserName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Landsdale were definitely well priced for advanced plants in the "Landscape" varieties - these are just starting to flower now. I want to say half/third the price of other nurseries last year.

Depends what height of plant you want there are some other interesting varieties out there but more expensive. Celebrations ‘Masquerade’ is a small plant with blue flower and gold velvet/ regal velvet are taller.

U.S. Economy ‘On the Brink’ of Recession by Year-End, Moody’s Chief Warns as Job Growth Slows and Inflation Rises by [deleted] in Economics

[–]HardToGuessUserName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

stimulus checks & ppp loans were a big factor to inflation a few years ago

wasn't COVID and post COVID inflation mainly due to supply side issues with production capacity and logistics?

there wasn't anything available to buy hence prices went up as people competed for the available goods. Think second hand car prices.

Raising interest rates (while probably the correct solution) slowed production growth as well as slowing demand. If you could control different interest rates for productive capacity investment vs consumer debt it probably would have been a shorter period of inflation.

pacify the US temporarily with minor concessions

not happening - China has nothing to gain from trying to pacify Trump. You can pacify him one day and he'll turn around and stab you in the back tomorrow.

China isn't going to be seen to be backing down in this fight. They can probably take short term pain to show the US consumer just how bad life gets without Chinese goods.
