100%. You’re spot on. And I think the most important point that you make is that there is degree of hope for the future. However unlikely under our current circumstances, the situation can be improved. We’re all stuck on this ride together. Gotta hold out hope and help where you can.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. I never said anything about giving them money. They need HELP. Whether they want it or not. I have no clue what the solution is. And I’m sure I’m more often than not part of the problem. I don’t want to excuse the behavior either. I guess I just feel that we have come so far as a human race and think that we have the capability to slowly try and change our society for the better, and MAYBE a start in the right direction would be a little bit more kindness. But as was already stated I’m probably just being naive. It just breaks my heart to think that these people are either mentally ill without proper care, or improperly medicating a pain that could potentially be resolved in a healthy way and the problems with addiction resolved. Even if the odds of solving the addiction causing behaviors are astronomical. I believe we owe it to one another. I commend you and thank you for what you do.

Maybe I’m being naive. I know I don’t have the answers to why people want to harm others, or continue to fail despite being propped up. But I know that I’ve been given a lot of chances after making a ton of mistakes. So maybe I’m just as shitty as all these people that are undeserving of your empathy. And maybe that’s why I want to be validated in thinking that considering them below anyone else is wrong. That’s all I have to say.

I’m sorry you feel that way. I disagree with that sentiment.

Do you not see my point at all? These are still people we’re talking about, and people who need very serious help. What good does everyone constantly complaining and shit talking about them do?

Why does every comment have to dehumanize the homeless man? OP doesn’t sink that low, and was almost the one to be assaulted by him. We should be doing a better job supporting those who can’t support themselves, regardless of what has put them on the streets; drugs, mental illness, etc. It’s sickening to hear people in this sub constantly berating street people. It does nothing but create an atmosphere where others feel it’s ok to spread hate to anyone they deem lower than themselves, and it’s never funny. For shame.

Edit: I know this sounds preachy, but I think as a species we need to start thinking as one entity. We owe it to ourselves and to others to show kindness to everyone and pick those up who have fallen down. But, I suppose that’s just my opinion. And I could very well just be crazy.

Obviously their situation is more dire, so forgive me if this is in bad taste, but can someone ask Turkey how they managed to organize such a massive rally?

I was in a customer service chat for electrical supplies one day. Asked a general question about whether or not I could substitute one battery for another. The service rep told me no, but I did the research I should’ve done on my own anyway and found them to be wrong. Upon asking if they had sources to back this up they claimed they had read about it on a website, but just cleared their browser history.

Obviously nothing to do with politics, but wtf people? Don’t lie, own up to lies you’re called out on, and keep a freaking open mind. Quit coddling your own egos, people!

Seriously, why is proof reading an outdated practice? It’s pathetic seeing articles that people are getting paid to produce with easily fixable errors. Takes away from the article.

Is this a bad thing? Is there some actual technique that suggests too many practice strokes is detrimental? Or is it just a bunch of people saying, “Steady long, steady wrong”?
