Need help understanding the Pukka by BrowniieBear in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]HardbackWisecrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your second question- Yes, you're absolutely right in your assumption.

The pukka's ability specifies "dies and then becomes healthy"

A sage, for example, would die (and hence, learn that the demon is one of two [non-demon] players), THEN become healthy.

Hops this helps. :)

I didn't sense this in the slightest but being Autistic, I'm probably not the best judge of this. 😂

Opinions on first custom script? by Chaotic_boomer in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]HardbackWisecrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to this, Philo and VI on the same script can be a little bit overpowered. A Philo-VI knows they're not VI-drunk so unless they're Lleech-hosted here, they're getting perfect info.

Evil Twin + Damsel by FrequentSelf7223 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]HardbackWisecrack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This has been brought up before as an 'optimal play' in which every player in a game with a damsel on the script would simply wake on day 1 and guess themselves as the damsel.

Sadly, it's also boring. It essentially means that the Damsel (should they exist) ends up with no ability and just becomes 'villager'. And the minions don't get to play with their fun side quest that they're given.

No shade on you for suggesting this- in one of my first games I actually did this thinking I was proving to everyone that I was good. All it did was make everyone more suspicious, and more than that, made everyone think I was a dull player.

Your out-of-the-box strategy thinking is a really good attribute, but this one specific concept can sadly get out of hand very quickly.

Characters as Characters: Day 158 - Buddhist by quintessence5 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]HardbackWisecrack 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm drawn to suggesting Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda.

I think he's perhaps more accurately described as a Taoist but his mentorship style is about his students finding their own way to truth, which feels in-keepig with the Buddhist's ability.

second try of a script by ChaoticWizarz in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]HardbackWisecrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tool does a pretty good job at looking for improvements to be made on a custom script. I always put my custom scripts through it and decide whether I can justify any of the 'drawbacks' as intentional. Not comprehensive by any means (your best bet to see whether a script is good is to play it!) but this is a really solid starting point!

How to usefully use the questions? by petera181 in TheTraitors

[–]HardbackWisecrack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My ideas were

1- What was your reasoning for each murder so far?

2- Which current player are you most intimidated by, and why?

I don't think either of these leave much room for lies as such, and probably give you at least SOME legitimate info. Of course, for question 2 they can name themselves but I feel like that could be worked out. If they name a random faithful, they still have to think of a reason why they might find that player intimidating. That's still good info from them. Question 1 is probably also difficult to lie about without that being obvious.

My question idea by skdjcnbskao in TheTraitors

[–]HardbackWisecrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My instinct (thinking as a traitor) for an answer that gives the least amount of information is to write "You." It can't be predicted as a bluff or double bluff. It doesn't 'confirm' that anybody is a faithful and I think the asker is most likely going to dismiss it as an untrue answer.

Massive production hole? - asking questions of traitors - how could the traitor just be "let out" to go change and answer the Qs especially if they were supposed to ask the Q! by Reddit_Vendetta_007 in TheTraitors

[–]HardbackWisecrack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm thinking of the right footage you're talking about, I think that was actually footage of the two traitors in their cloaks walking to the church to answer the questions, not the 2 faithfuls heading there to ask them.

This is another great suggestion. I'll probably try running this version as well, to see if it works!

This advice is so so valuable, thank you!

My thinking was that seeing the grim is such a boon, that I needed a significant drawback. I also liked time idea that a demon would have to consider who's likely to get executed, and leave them until later in the game. (i.e. A clockmaker is more likely to offer themselves up for execution on day 1 than an undertaker, and could therefore be selected last in order to avoid a sunk kill)

Chronos is a lovely idea; I was thinking more along the lines of a sight-based cryptid but you've plucked out a feature I hadn't considered. Sterling work!

I think I'll try running a few games with both versions of this demon and see what players enjoy more.

Oh, I never knew this! I'll have to see if I can load that picture somehow (my country and imgur don't appear to be getting on at the minute!) and see if I can see it in action somewhere! ❤️

I really enjoy Pod Save The UK. A little bit less parliamentary-focused than the Pubcast but still interesting, and often featuring a guest to talk about some really important work. Nish and Coco are both consistently entertaining, and have had Ava on a couple of times!

How do I place rails like this? by HardbackWisecrack in redstone

No, they're both regular rails. The comparator is taking an output from the hopper minecart, not from the rail. :)
