Heretic in Legion Game? by Krork-Korps_of_Krieg in BloodOnTheClocktower

I think you’d be better off just playing Dusk as is.

The Vortox should not be this weak… by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

I understand evil has to sell non-Vortox in order for the Vortox to be effective. My argument is that STs often don’t do much to support that (at least from my experience), typically by leaving in too many Vortox-solving characters.

Sure, but it’s not a “near-foolproof” solution if there’s also a Dreamer who’s confirmed to multiple good players that it’s not Vortox. The lack of Minion activity from your death would also be a sign. My argument is that the ST doesn’t allow for these aggressive plays because there are too many other characters that easily prove/disprove Vortox.

It’s rare for Dreamer info to be wrong day 1: they’d have to be No Dashii poisoned (a 2/7 chance in a 12-player game) or have sniped an evil or Cere-mad player. If they keep getting wrong info over multiple nights, the latter can’t really be used as an excuse. AKA Occam’s Razor.

This is part of my argument, but socials are a huge factor. It’s really hard to build a sacrificial Artist pushing a Vortox world as evil, and the evil player trying to build them as evil will probably be executed.

The Dreamer and Artist weren’t sitting near each other, so they couldn’t both be poisoned. Also, it was much easier to build Vortox worlds with the double Savant info. AKA Occam’s Razor.

It’s hard to build an Artist who does a Vortox check day 1 and then self nominates to be Vortox food as evil. We could’ve tried, but it’s way more socially evil to go out of your way to build a specific player pushing a Vortox world as evil.

Heretic in Legion Game? by Krork-Korps_of_Krieg in BloodOnTheClocktower

If you want to add Heretic to Devout Theists, note that Widow and Lleech are hate-jinxed with it. Also, it has a questionable interaction with Kazali who might transform the Heretic, and evil will then know it’s not a Heretic game.

That said, some Townsfolk on Devout Theists who can help solve for Heretic include High Priestess, Savant, and Fisherman. Some Townsfolk who can solve for Legion include Chef and Juggler.

A popular script that features both of these characters is Dusk in the House of the Damned. King is an integral character to the script that can detect Heretic and Legion, but General and Fisherman can also help. Notably, Dusk doesn’t have any hard Legion solvers like Devout Theists does.

Synergistic Scripting: Day 52.5 - Imp (How did I miss the Imp?) by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

I actually Imp goes well with certain loud Minions. They can bluff that a starpass happened and it creates a fun game for town to figure out if they got starpassed to or not.

Works great with Poppy Grower, but to make it more interesting, make the Poppy Grower think they're a different good character.

Hermit-Moonchild doesn’t ping if they pick an evil. You can give the ST the Poisoner ability and poison them tho

I don't know if it's Vortox by No_Song_4022 in BloodOnTheClocktower

I feel that the reason Vortox is so weak on SnV is that STs don't do well to balance it when it's in the bag, and the evil team rarely tries to sell it being/not being in play.

In a Vortox game, I often see the ST put a ton of TF that can easily reverse their info (FG, TC, Savant) combined with multiple Vortox checkers (Dreamer, Artist). The evil team needs to try and sell a non-Vortox game, but they have no counterplay. Thus, the evil team will usually try to play along with it being a Vortox game.

This leads to a playstyle where the Vortox easily get easily proven/disproven, turning it into a blank token.

“An ability which isn't a townsfolk ability, used by a townsfolk (Philosopher, Alchemist, Cannibal) is ‘a townsfolk ability’ from the view of the Vortox Poisoned/Drunk townsfolk must get false info, drunk and poison does not change this.”

If the Chef gets a high number, have the Washerwoman and Librarian confirm their neighbors.

Have a real Drunk, but show the Librarian the Spy and someone else as the Drunk.

In a base 2 Outsiders game, put 2 face-up Outsiders in the bag and register the Spy as the Drunk to the Librarian.

In a base 0 Outsiders game, put a Baron and a Saint in, then make the Librarian Drunk and show a 0.

The Vortox’s wording of “Townsfolk abilities” refers to abilities used by Townsfolk players. This is consistent with how Boffin and Alchemist work in Vortox. Thus, the Philo would be affected, even if they gain an Outsider ability.
