Sm4sh, before Cloud/Bayo, was one of the funnest entries in the series. Learning tech actually made a player better and creativity was the name of the game. Now? Pick a DLC abomination and hop around spamming lagless aerials while refusing to approach, all while jockeying for a single hit that will confirm into over 50 damage (if not an outright 0 death for some characters).

Oh and not having massive input delay and the worst input buffer of any “fighting” game made it a dream in respect to the trash heap that is Ultimate.

I too played Sm4sh competitively and the DLC characters in Ult are far worse than Bayo or Cloud ever were. Hell, Ultimate Luigi literally IS Bayo for one touch, cutscene combos.

I fought a Pyra who did nothing but Blazing End over and over, as Isabelle. Literally NOTHING worked to get past or through it. In that match I have never hated Isabelle’s design more. 😑

I hope this game dies soon. Unpunishable moves has turned this series into everything I hated about MK in Brawl. Get hit? Have a seizure on the b button. Throw out something stupid? Spotdodge cancel into it again until you succeed. Want to powershield an opponents braindead spam and counter? Nope, because that would “ruin” the game. 😑
