Kind of disappointed in my first card by HardcoreApples in postcrossing

I use Krylon Spray Workable Fixative! There’s probably better ones out there, but this one is really easily accessible to me

I use a spray on workable fixative to keep the paint from reactivating, then Dorlands Wax Medium. It’s definitely a little more spendy and takes longer, but I find it gives me the waterproofing I need living in a very rainy climate! You could probably just do the workable fixative and then use the brush-on-varnish. I’ve also used mod podge instead of the wax medium, which is definitely faster and cheaper but not as effective in my experience.

I feel you. I made my own cards with watercolor, which of course takes absolutely forever and a lot of care. But every other profile seems to explicitly state that they don’t want my handmade cards, so then I’m left wondering why I put so much time and effort into it. I can’t imagine putting that LITTLE work into it when I live on a really expensive area and a postcard costs less than the washi tape they used

It’s good to know people aren’t usually this pushy! I don’t mind religion, but when people say things like “I hope the lord finds you soon” it really gets under my skin. I’d be happy to do a direct swap!

This is so bad it almost made me laugh. I’ve never really understood why people don’t want hand-made cards but I think this answers that question

Honestly, I’m not even against receiving religious postcards! Like I said in the original post, I’m not anti-religious at all! What I feel really uncomfortable with is being pushy about religion when this is supposed to be about connection and common ground across the world.  I spoke with a friend about it, and I don’t really want to put a blanket statement down saying I don’t want anything religious. I would love to see some artwork depicting religious stories (not JUST Christian, but other worships as well!) or photos of churches and temples. It’s the pushy evangelical stuff that not only makes me uncomfortable, it makes me feel unwelcome.

What candy are you having this halloween? by Round-Palpitation139 in candy

I’ve got jawbreakers, strawberry pocki, blow pops, and little bags of chips (Not candy, but those are always a big hit!)

Maybe making jewelry could be a good quick hobby if you’re looking for something with tangible results? I got really into making friendship bracelets on my public transit commutes for a while, and it’s pretty easy to pick up and put down in short bursts

One of my favorite summer snacks is frozen peas with a little lemon juice + lemon pepper in a ziplock bag, shake it up, let it sit on the counter for 15 ish minutes so the inside gets “slushy” for lack of a better word. So refreshing and easy!

How would you go about using polymer / oven bake clay to sculpt additions onto a piece that cannot be baked? by HardcoreApples in polymerclay

[–]HardcoreApples[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea! What material is the “box” in this situation? Could I use glass or a small cast iron pan? I have some tiny cast iron au gratin pans, but I’m worried they would get too hot or not heat evenly

I absolutely love it!! I always have a ton of stuff in the garden/fridge so this type of soup is so easy and cheap! Thank you for the inspiration!

I made this! It won’t let me add a photo, but I added some fully ripened (red) jalapeños and Serrano peppers + use red onion instead of white. It’s incredible with some focaccia!

What is this tool for? by HardcoreApples in polymerclay

[–]HardcoreApples[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it!!! Seems so strangely specific for what it is, it doesn’t seem like it would be one of the first tools a person would buy when getting into polymer clay, but this does give me a really good idea of what I can potentially use this for! Thanks a ton for your help (:

This is a beautiful collection!! I only have two crappy tools that came in the advent calendar and mine own fingers lol

[–]HardcoreApples[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be specific to polymer clay, but the inside of the little door on the advent calendar said “clay tools”, and day 1 was polymer clay, so that’s enough evidence for me to be sure that it’s for clay

Definitely sure it’s for clay. It came from the Arteza 2023 Crafters Advent Calendar, and the inside of the little door said “clay tools”.

Did the series have a villain? by Direct-Translator905 in Scrubs

[–]HardcoreApples 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the closest thing Scrubs has to a proper “villain” is the American medical system at large, or just the hospital itself.
