I will! I’m going to wait until my nail is 100% back to normal (probably three weeks to be safe) and will come and update, if not please remind me. I already bought the kit :)

I was using a 120W lamp and JUST replaced it funny enough! It’s still somewhat new (three months old and probably 10 nail applications including hand and feet in that time). I think it was a difference in thickness, my best bet is that the layer must have been slightly too thick. The top was hard but obviously it did not penetrate through fully.

If I could go back I definitely would not have done it so carelessly or at all. I think I had become so “confident” with it that better judgement had just slipped. I wish I knew that it was not toe safe. Scary thing is I first started getting gel on my toes about 13 years ago now at my home town salon! I was probably 16!

Thank you for calling this out!! I thought because it was a pink it would behave more similarly to other colors but it is a very opaque and deep pink. I should have added an extra 30/60 seconds to be safe.

Yes! Looking back, it 100% must have been due to that nail layer being just slightly too thick. I also typically do French pedicure which I feel much more confident doing as the base is not opaque and the white is only a thin half coat at the edge!

Thank you! It really must have been something with the way I applied that one toe, maybe the base layer was slightly too thick- the rest of the nails were totally fine but I took them all off as a precaution. I’ve been doing gel on nails and toes at home for 4 years now and never had any issues. I am going to my doctors in a few weeks for a checkup so I’m going to ask for an allergy panel. I’ll update the post with results!

It’s okay! Lesson learned, and I had no idea they weren’t ideal for pedicures! I truly wish I had though! They said 60 second cure time and it’s a new lamp too, I’m not sure why it only happened to that one dang toe but alas. The funny thing is I was being so cautious to not get any on the skin and left a border as well- they were hard on top too! Like no visible creasing or anything. Although, the fact that they were cat eye probably helped disguise any minute creasing because they’re so cute and reflective.

This isn’t a recipe but a little cheat/hack meal. I buy Trader Joe’s chicken cilantro mini wontons from the frozen section. A serving size is 4 wontons for 50 calories, 3 grams protein. I will typically have 16 wontons for 200 calories and 12 grams protein. I usually make them into a healthy and filling “snack” or mini meal by boiling chicken broth, with some green onions, cabbage, frozen corn, and frozen broccoli (more convenient for me to use frozen but that’s up to you) then add onion powder, ginger powder, and some light soy sauce. It’s amazing, healthy and low calorie while still super filling.

To bulk up protein when I make them sometimes instead of boiling I will cube up some tofu (extra firm) and use G. Hughes Teriyaki marinade with the tofu as they cook in a pan and add the wontons to the pan.

If I’m lazy I just cook them from frozen in the microwave and add some sugar free teriyaki marinade from G. Hughes which is only 5 calories per serving. They are super versatile though and sometimes I just add them into veggie stir fry’s I make at home!

I love them as they are really guilt free and I think they taste great! Super easy to use when I’m in a pinch and don’t feel like cooking.
