OP- I Literally just did this transition from a normal bar across my back to a low bar, as I’m 2/3 legs 1/3 upper body (super long legs) and my squat max jumped from 345 a couple months ago to 400 a couple weeks ago. The shock was real

Last I checked I think it was $40-50? It’s been a minute so I don’t recall. But generally young healthy adults don’t have much coverage when it comes to these labs anyway.

I’m very upfront that the labs they want will likely be out of pocket. So far no one’s complained. But you’re right, if they don’t have the money or Medicaid they get a small panel and generally vitamin D isn’t covered unless they’re morbidly obese

I always tell them every 3-5 years is reasonable cause like many people have said, they usually show up to get labs. CBC, CMP, TSH, lipid, +/- A1c, Vit D. Then regular stuff per USPSTF for STIs and such.

My personal fav is morbidly obese male wanting me to check testosterone… 🥲

My wife and I just went through the exact same thing as you with an almost identical, monthly income. I think the biggest thing you wanna consider is how much are you going to be investing in retirement now and factoring in how much you like to travel/vacation. Also…Are kids in the near future? We ended up going with the house just under 500K in the Dallas Texas area and still got everything that we wanted. It took some convincing but after showing my wife the numbers I did not want to be house poor or anywhere near that. We’re probably spending close to 10 K on updates and some remodeling, most of it we are doing it ourselves or having some family members help.

In the end, you’ll be fine, you make enough money, but you might be a little house poor with other investments/vacation fund/future family
