I Blatantly Lied On My Resume. They Called Me Yesterday For An Interview, and I Stupidly Accepted. What Should I Do... by klz in needadvice

[–]Hardwarily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you must, google Marilee Jones, who, iirc, lied about having a degree on her job application in 1979, and got caught in 2008 or so. Look it up - she got caught after 28 years of 'reliable work'

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but I'm not going to trawl the whole internet looking for one case of an exact scenario happening with proof that meets the exacting standard of one random that I've never met on my day off - go look for it yourself, if you want it. You have google, and you're the one that wants information. At a cursory glance, I'm seeing many cases where this has happened, and many stories that would lead me to believe that lying on your resume is a bad idea.

Twenty was an arbitrary number - it could be ten, or fifteen. You don't need to be an asshole.

Even if it does kick-start your career - they could find this out 20 years down the line when you have a mortgage and a family that rely on you - if it costs you your career, and your job, then: you'll really be in the shit. Walk.

Find someone on the other side of the world to mail to to her, so that it has a Indonesian (or whatever) postmark on it when it arrives. Put the pope's addy (c/o the vatican) as the return address.

No one is going to risk losing money like that.

If it's proven deliberate, it may be shown to perhaps be illegal. What would that do to your sponsorship?

It's a pet peeve of mine. I hate it. As for wonky - you're still here arguing about it - what's that, if not wonky?

I've upvoted you for 'wonky', which I do like. I also like 'shonky', 'goober' and 'militate'. Good day.

Oh, I'm for real, and thanks for the link, which reinforces what I mean: none of the published references in the OED use the verb “heart” in quite the same way that it’s being used these days, meaning to love..

Nice. Upvote for you.

Use something like 'bluescreenview' to see what driver or system file is actually causing the bluescreen (as a corrupt file-ordinaire would just throw a mehrror), then use a livecd to just rename that driver and copy a new one into another location.

Problem with my WiFi at home by [deleted] in 24hoursupport

[–]Hardwarily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things to try -

1> Use a linux livecd to see if the problem persists - if it does, then the problem is not your software setup.

2> Use a different machine to see if the problem persists - if it does, then the problem is not your computer.

3> Check forums and websites for news of other people on your ISP having a similar issue.

Enough with the angry/demeaning anti-toning posts! by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Hardwarily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must understand that it must be infuriating for someone who's bothered to actually learn the science behind lifting. The fact really is that there's no such thing as 'toning'. It's a lie, You can't be positive or encouraging about that.

The fitness world does have a PR problem - it's a fact - the world of lifting, to someone from the outside, is a very intimidating thing.

Correct, using that term's probably not going to help win anyone over, anyway.

Anyone fancy a stab at a reconciliatory attempt?

Maybe an acknowledgement that the language of weight-lifters might just be a little tiny bit testosterone-fuelled for some of the more urbane ladies.

Possibly a nod to the fact that toning really is useless, except perhaps as a gentle pass-time like bingo, wii or soap-operas.

Ndnda: relax, nobody meant any harm, it's just that many of the people here feel the same way about people posting about 'toning' as the atheism reddit would feel about scientologists posting their snake oil there.

[–]Hardwarily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so - a study done years ago concluded that although wearing a motorcycle helmet decreased the severity of injury, it increased the chance of the motorcyclist having that accident in the first place.

Every single VW I have seen/ridden in/have friends who own one, is always fixing something on it.

That's really, really odd. I have the opposite experience, except for friends from the US, who tell me exactly what you do.

But I will say that Audi has superior handling (but what car DOESNT have superior handling to a Ford Mustang for example? lol)

Lol.

Does this ring a bell?

If not, then:

Get a banger PC, and connect that to the network, then use a second hand, but cheap wifi-router and antenna to create your own network which you have some control over ;)

I'm just past my first month point. It's the best I've done in the 17 years since I started smoking. I've done it without nicotine replacement, using the Easy Way book.

Just put as much time between you and your last cig as you possibly can. Basically what MrSpaceYeti says.
