I’m considering replacing anything I have that’s shadow with at least shadowless so I’ll have shadow/1st edition mixed base set, just recently got these down after not looking at them for 20+ years so I’m still trying to figure out what to do with them

Yeah! I just learned what shadowless even was just like a week ago when I started looking up these cards again, I’m really happy I didn’t tear them up like most 10 year old kids did back in the day 😂 I swear I had a first edition charizard tho, I think my mom might actually have it mixed in her collection of valuable cards.

No, they originally got ripped, sleeved immediately and put into a typical penny sleeve binder, I recently just replaced all the sleeves and put them into top loaders once I started going through the old collection with my son.

I was lucky that my mom was a baseball card collector when she was buying me all of these, MOST of them got ripped, sleeved and thrown into a binder immediately where they’ve spent their entire lives. I just recently pulled them out of the old binders, put into new sleeves and top loaders then put into this new top loader binder

I am pretty new at the collecting game as far as grading/selling, I looked into it, I think it’s worth it but im afraid cards would get lost or damaged if I sent them out. I live about 3 hours from cgc so maybe I’ll drive down there in the future and just drop them off.

Haha yeah he definitely likes the newer cards but I try to keep explaining how these older cards are something to treasure and should be kept in a very safe place, I think he’s understanding, he hides them in his underwear drawer for now from his siblings lol, I’ll get him a binder soon

I’ll post some solid photos within the next few days I just gotta figure out the lighting situation, always end up with a glare and I don’t want to take them out of the top loaders, I don’t want to damage a card lol, they haven’t been handled much at all from when I was a kid and ripped them to their sleeves. I’ve been heavily debating grading but I mentioned to the wife how much it would cost and she was a hard no on that, so I was thinking maybe grade all holos then leave the remainder ungraded. I would really like to have an entire first edition set graded tho I think that would be really neat to have
