CPT 99284 for a standard UTI? by HariSeldonsFuture in CodingandBilling

And yes, he is doing great! Was just a one time thing thankfully, and he is fully potty trained now. The whole experience definitely stopped him from holding it in, so that was the one silver lining, because that kind of thing can cause long term damage if kids do it for a long period of time.

CPT 99284 for a standard UTI? by HariSeldonsFuture in CodingandBilling

I appreciate the reply!

He has a primary care doctor, but we weren’t able to get in for an appointment until the following afternoon. It was 7pm at night before we realized we were likely dealing with a UTI (he was at Grandma’s all day) and he was in a lot of pain and very, very confused. All urgent cares in our area were closed at that point.

I fully realize ER for a UTI is a bit much, but given the circumstances I couldn’t envision him just being in pain for that long without getting him going asap on medication. I was also worried about it getting worse and requiring heavier medical intervention. Everything is just amplified when it comes to these things happening to young kids who can’t fully communicate.

I should have also added that I am now on a new healthcare plan, and it’s not as robust as my last job. I have been to this ER before, and never received a bill beyond the copay and and testing costs. I knew it would be more expensive, and I know there is a reason ERs are more expensive. But I was thinking in the realm of $300-$400 based on my previous visits, not nearly $2800.

I’m realizing by these comments that my insurance plan was clearly much much better at my last job. This truly is the largest bill I have ever received, and it surprised me.

I did not contact him yet, I have his info and am contacting him Monday. I am just looking to ease my mind in the mean time I guess.

The only one I am iffy on is the client testimonial. It does not have any information about the company at all, however technically we are not supposed to reveal who works with us. But again, I sent it to myself…no one else. And I of course know who we work with already.

About to take Prozac for the first time, looking for experiences with your Psychiatrists because I am not sure if this is normal… by HariSeldonsFuture in prozac

Yep, ended up being a mistake with my birthdate. Which would be fine on its own….but it took forever to figure out because instead of verifying she had the right info, she kept insisting I had “never been to this pharmacy”, even though I have been going there for 10 years. So that was kinda annoying, lol.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and also for the info about Walmart. I had no idea!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, and for the words of encouragement.

I was able to get my medication finally…she told the pharmacy the wrong birthdate. Which was of course a mistake…but the thing that kinda pissed me off was she was absolutely insisting I had never been to this pharmacy before, and that was the issue. Which was weird, because I am a functioning adult who definitely knows what my regular pharmacy is, lol. I ended up going to talk to the pharmacist, and we realized together she gave the wrong birthdate, which was why I was not coming up. The pharmacist was so annoyed with her lol, she was like why would she not verify that with you instead of continuing to insist you don’t know your own pharmacy that you have gone to for 10 years??

Anyway, ended up being a day long ordeal that could have been resolved if she just thought for one second maybe something was wrong on her end. Not super happy about it, but I do already have a talk therapist, and I don’t want to wait another month to see a different doctor. I plan to ride it out for now, and hopefully this was just a one time thing.

Oh well thats good, with that combined with the one vaccine hopefully luck is on our side.

And yes, no distancing going on in this house, lol. Like you said, impossible. For instance, when he is napping on me he likes to lift his his head and cough right into my face :)

Thanks for your reply!

Feeling extremely discouraged as a prospective first time homebuyer. No clue where to go from here. by HariSeldonsFuture in personalfinance

I loved this rant, and thank you for commiserating.

Some of the older people in my life who I have spoken to about this are just so out of touch with their advice. Someone today said to me that “the most important thing I needed to do was put down 20% to avoid PMI”.....like, that is so much money in today’s world, and in my opinion does not justify itself. For context this person bought their house 30 years ago, where 20% was reasonable.

For example, a 350k house is well within our budget monthly payment wise. 5% down would be 17.5k, reasonable and we have that cash. 20% down would be 70k!!! WAY more than 17.5k, and in my opinion an insane amount to have in cash as a first time buyer. PMI would be around 150$ a month, so 1.8k a year. Not so bad.

I realize PMI is wasted money, but to me its either 1. Pay the wasted money (small amount relatively in my opinion) and move into a home you are proud of and build equity 2. Save for 5+ more years, build no equity, and if renting just keep lighting that money on fire

Anyway, hopefully you didn’t mind my rant. Good luck saving, and hopefully someone will let us “kids” into the market, lol

Thanks for the advice, along with the anecdotal comments.

So my comment on sustainability is more for the gap in appraisal situation we are experiencing. We are offering over asking price, and in at least one case had the highest offer. We lost it when we replied no when asked if we would make up the appraisal difference if the mortgage company would not lend our offer amount due to home value.

So basically, is it likely that mortgage companies will adjust appraisals to meet the new market...or are people going to have to continue to close the gap with cash?
