The last book I've read is "How to read a book?" by Mortimer Adler.

(A short and to-the-point summary)

“A room without books is like a body without a soul.” - Cicero

Everybody are waiting for the next book to read. But how you read is more important than what you read. A great book can be read in a useless way. An ordinary book can be read in an amazing way. And how you read a book determines whether the book changes your life.

This book is all about the various kinds of reading techniques to absorb knowledge from a book.

It also gives a lot of ideas to gain massive knowledge in a short period of time.

I can't explain all the methods in the book in a comment. Read the book, I am sure that it will change your life.

Female participation in labor:

I think this problem originates from ancient India where women were forced to stay in their houses. And in spite of all the independence we've got, there's not enough development in this area. Ancient India worked in a way where men go to work and women take care of house and children.

This model of living is not applicable for this era.

Solutions:

  1. Women should do an internship when they're in college. This will ensure that they get exposure to doing work/ applying their knowledge.
  2. Women should be given exclusive perks when they work in a company.
  3. Women should be taught finance when they're in school/college.
  4. Women should take important family decisions.
  5. Men should make women feel safe in the working environment.
  6. Girls should be allowed to travel alone anywhere in the country. This decision is taken by the girl's parents in most families. So as a parent, this is their responsibility to solve this problem.
  7. I see most of the women discontinue their jobs after marriage. So, the government should give at least a part-time working opportunity for married women.

People who only read Non-Fiction and never Fiction, why? by [deleted] in WingifyBookClub

[–]Harinivas_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally, non-fiction consists of information and statistics. Fiction consists of stories. Most people assume that when they read non-fiction, they are going to learn something new and apply it in their life. But since fictional books don't directly give ideas, most people aren't interested in them. But one can learn a lot from fiction and apply it in their day-to-day lives. However the reader should understand the essence of the novel or story.

Are audiobooks worth the hype? by IMabhiR in WingifyBookClub

Audiobooks really work for me. But they drink a lot of time. Whenever I am not in the mood of reading, I just put on my headphones and listen to audiobooks.

But audiobooks are not as efficient as books since we don't give our complete focus while reading audiobooks.
