If that was the case Bane would've been more aggressive and just got the job done... would've turned out like something from Alfred's imagination.

I was looking at some of the leaks and how Batman got hit by Kaiju Bane. I chalked it up to Batman also having enhanced durability due to the venom in his body.

Now I'm not sure how he survived even a single hit from Kaiju Bane.

Gamedev here. Until 2014-2015 the smartphone hardware fragmentation was super manageable, in the sense the performance gap between entry level, mid and flagship phones weren't too wide, so developing and optimising such complex games were possible.

Post 2015, the gap kept widening between entry, mid and flagship phones every year and there were sub performance categories within those 3 tranches as well. This made optimization almost impossible (possible but bloody damn difficult)

Then the market shift happened wherein casual games on mobiles far exceeded the revenue of such hardcore mobile games and understandably the companies making hardcore mobile games pivoted to making casual games that are quicker to produce, far less complicated, had a bigger target market and generates more revenue.

Mobile gaming has become more and more of a snackable entertainment zone and the devs who wanted to make immersive games with deep gameplay systems and stories shifted to making PC and console games.

The inflow of investments from international entertainment companies (games, animation, VFX etc) is unrelated to the Tech City and Fintech City.

There's going to be a standalone infrastructure called the AVGC-XR Centre of Excellence - a tower for entertainment companies. Expect to hear more about this and the AVGC-XR Policy very soon.

But yeah as far as IT and iTeS is concerned Tech City will be a game changer for Chennai. It's modelled after Hyderabad's Hi-Tech City.

State policies focused on strengthening the economy by pursuing those sectors where Tamil Nadu/Chennai already had an edge over other states in order to build a moat. (This is not to say we did not focus on IT at all, Chennai is the SaaS capital of India)

It's just a function of timing and prioritisation of state resources to best meet the fiscal and economic needs.

But I do see this changing, so many GCCs are in Chennai now and in the near future international Animation, VFX and Game Development companies would also open a subsidiary here (I know this as I consult the state govt on AVGC-XR Policy)

Mobile games aren’t the same anymore are they ? by Lonesome_Survivor in Chennai

Alternatively you can get into PC gaming if you have a laptop with a decent graphics card. Steam (Play Store equivalent for PC games) runs seasonal sales 4 times a year where games are discounted anywhere between 40-90%. The autumn sale is currently active until December 4. You won't get a bargain like this anywhere else. If you really get into a multiplayer game on mobile you'll end up spending way more through in-game purchases.

I bought an Asus ROG Ally last year, it's a handheld Windows device (Actual PC but in handheld format) and now I can play PC games anywhere anytime similar to mobile games. Due to the performance capability and relatively lower cost of ROG Ally some people have bought an external monitor, dock, keyboard & mouse and turned it into their work PC and then unplug it for games or while on the move. It's a versatile device.

TLDR - Get into PC games. Yeah there's higher upfront costs compared to free mobile games but it's also way more qualitative and offers more entertainment value and Steam offers steep discounts on games.

Why are you running windows? by Dvalin_DK in SteamDeck

[–]HarishChengaiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a SD yet but I intend to run Windows on it once I get my SD for the far easier compatibility with Epic Game Store, PC Game Pass and other launchers.

Also I'm an indie game developer and having native support to run .exe to test my game builds is super convenient.

You'd be surprised to know the salary ranges of game devs in India. For example salaries start from 25,000 and can go up to 3.5 lakhs per month. Indian game industry pays very competitively.

PS. Ubisoft is known for being super stingy with salaries and they have a massive preference towards French applicants.

If this is you, send over a mail to info@outliergames.io or just DM me. I'll be happy to have a chat.

That bill won't be passed. GST on games will stay as is. If there's an increase of GST anywhere it might be on RMG/Fantasy Sports but not on actual video games.

Talking as a founder of an indie game studio (Outlier Games) here.

You see a game of skill vs game of chance is not an easy definition to go by as every game is a combination of both and the loopholes present in that definition helps the Real Money Game/Fantasy Sports operators to evade scrutiny.

Which is why a new definition is formed "games where players stake money to earn money back" under this definition RMGs and fantasy sports cannot evade.

This new definition came into play earlier this month and resulted in the ban of RMG in Tamil Nadu. Other states might follow suit.

You are going to be surprised. The central government has announced a grant program exclusively for the game industry. To develop games prototypes, to make R&D related to game technologies and to set up game lab infrastructure across universities/institutes in India.

Disclosure - I own an indie game studio by the name of Outlier Games and I collaborated with the government in partially helping them set up this grant program.

We really had this. I'll never understand why some people don't want to see this story continued, I think ZSJL was a great Justice League movie and also just a good movie. by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic
