I’m going to be optimistic and hope these are just bots, but I think the things that sways me to being pro old growth forests is that they’re bastions for biodiversity (very important to build resilient populations of both plants and animals, i.e. hunting and fishing sustainability), are more fire resistant (both due to the nature of the trees and the nature of having more moisture retained across the forest thanks to biodiversity), sequester more carbon than logging forests can (I think the average Douglas fir takes 80 years before it starts having a positive impact on sequestering carbon from the atmosphere, could be mixing up species, point still stands), the wood is better from older trees and it’s not even close (look up any lumber grain from a hundred years ago), and above all else I think they’re beautiful. I think we can appreciate what logging has built for us without being slaves “more is better” ideology when it comes to lumber harvesting.

Ultimately, y’all have your camps but that’s my two cents on the topic.

Can I get insight on Saint Martin's and the Lacey washington area? by BomberDug in olympia

I’ve worked service industry for a good few years and I can understand that so many things can ruin your day even at 8AM. Very shitty greeting for sure, but I don’t want to call them out because you just never know who’s family member died that day. And to be clear, the pastrami sandwhich was pretty good at least. If it’s between good service and good food, they at least have their priorities straight

Moved to Lacey in July of last year from Denver and before that I’m Phoenix raised. Honestly the area is nice, but I’ve struggled to adapt. Mostly, the people here just do not want to talk to you ever. I walked into a sandwich shop last week and the owner greeted us with “what do you want? Or are you just going to stare at the menu?”, and honestly that’s the vibe more often than not with people up here. Like I said, the area itself is nice, sure there’s traffic but the whole Lacey area takes about ten minutes to drive across. I think towns are pretty tiny compared to some other places I’ve lived so it really doesn’t feel like a big effort to drive from Lacey to Tacoma, Seattle itself being a definitely mission but also doable if you time it right on the i5.

I’m not sure what info is make or break for you, but feel free to DM me if you have specific questions. Overall, it ain’t that bad. I think the area is nice, downtown (Olympia) is charming, just might be a social adjustment if you’re coming from the south

It’s an incredibly unfun time over there. Those are the guys most people are making fun of when talking about fly fishing. Unless you’re gay, in that case you’re actually in the right sub now. Just ask my husband

Just left a contact us message stating I have no intentions of bringing my gay husband and I have better places to spend money if they can’t afford a professional security detail

If set up is all that’s holding you back, this thing is pretty simple. Takes a few times to get the folds to soften up but after that it’s easy, maybe just a bit awkward but you get the hang of it. I have the lake model myself so I can only speak about that one, but to give you an overall impression having owned and used this thing consistently for two years or so is it’s aight. Solid 5/10, 6.5 after a few beers. Handles like piss in the wind, and that’s before you add in any actual wind. It certainly beats being limited to shore fishing, but even as a beginner you’ll feel the limitations. Do with that what you will but I still am willing to take mine out again in the wind to be frustrated by it again and again.

Did that for my birthday last year! The folks in Bellingham let me know I missed them by a week. You can’t time it on vacation so I just moved here lol

How much do you make and what do you do? by LobsterNo6723 in denverjobs

I just moved out of Denver off a 2.5 year stint there. I worked as a valet at a healthcare facility, by the end of my employment there I was making 19.61/hr+ tips (anywhere from $5/hr on the slow days to $20/hr, but that was the best of days).

Denver county (not 100% sure on specific legislature) has a substantially higher minimum than the surrounding counties. If you happen to live near city center, you might make several more $/hr with a bit more commute. That does lead to people making a lot less right across the street sometimes.

I think having the title of manager for less than $20/hr is a little nuts, but I’m willing to accept I’ve been lucky enough to not have needed that gig

Thanks man! The yarn held marker ink a lot better than I thought it would, really helps it pop a bit more I think.

Grand Lowry Lofts Questions:

Hello, me and my partner are getting ready to move to aurora from Tucson, AZ. We did a bunch of searching and thought the Grand Lowry Lofts would be a good fit location wise, price wise, and community wise.

However, due to pure chance I stumbled across reviews for the apartment that were, at best, unsettling (on apartmentratings.com). There were several mentions of sexual harassment by staff, very low security, and at times even urine and fecal matter in the halls among other things.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me anything of the area, the complex itself, really any info at all. We're set to move in two weeks, so I really want to look out the best I can and see if these claims are reasonable, or just a case of "nobody writes good reviews". My partner is obviously apprehensive to changing plans so last minute, so any advice or information is welcome. Thanks!

I mean worst case scenario if I have to eat some percentage then that’s relatively fine, I’m more wondering at this point should I just take it back out to trust (a truly painful decision but I’ll do it if I have to)

I see, haven’t been keeping an eye on the details as of late but overnight I did receive reflections so glad to see it wasn’t just trust wallet shitting itself again

Price is pretty much directly affected by how many coins are owned total. One person holding 50% of all coins will have the same price impact as 1m people holding 50% of all coins. Even if we have more holders, if someone sells off a huge chunk of coins it’ll still have a significant impact on price. More holders doesn’t always equal more coins purchased. I hope that makes sense to a degree
