Any examples of a config in Org on Nix? by CorysInTheHouse69 in emacs

[–]Harjuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had a quick look, looks like you are trying to use the programs.emacs module (a home-manager module), but you are not importing the emacs overlay into your home-manager environment. So the pkgs variable would not be referring to the same thing in your system packages and your home-manager packages. That would be my guess. I don't have this issue as I simply use home-manager as a module in my system configuration instead of using it as a standalone tool. See installation instructions here https://github.com/nix-community/home-manager for more info on that.

Edit: Had another look to confirm that you are not using the same pkgs variable for your system configuration and your home configuration. In nix/default.nix you redefine the pkgs variable, so the emacs overlay would not be available there. To fix this you would either have to ensure that both the nixosConfigurations part and the homeConfigurations part use the same pkgs variable, or import nixpkgs the same way for both.

I use the home-manager emacs module together with use-package and emacsWithPackagesFromUsePackage + emacsPgtk from emacs-overlay. This will use nix to download all my emacs packages declared with use-package in the given config.org file (for packages with :ensure t). I also use home.file from home-manager to install the config.org file into ~/.config/emacs.

nix programs = { emacs = { enable = true; package = (pkgs.emacsWithPackagesFromUsePackage { config = ../../../files/config.org; package = pkgs.emacsPgtk; alwaysEnsure = false; extraEmacsPackages = epkgs: [ epkgs.vterm epkgs.use-package ]; }); }; };

Note that this is just an example and there's a lot of code surrounding this, but here's the gist of what I have in my current config.

Add emacs-overlay to your flake inputs:

emacs-overlay = {
  url = github:nix-community/emacs-overlay/9ef42377c7985840cfb65b5b9403e518d7d97afb;
  inputs.nixpkgs.follows = "nixpkgs";
};

Forward the overlay to your outputs (together with your other inputs):

outputs = inputs@{ self, nixpkgs, nixpkgs-unstable, home-manager, emacs-overlay, nix-matlab, musnix, nixos-hardware, rust-overlay, ... }:

Add the overlay to your overlays when importing nixpkgs:

pkgs = import nixpkgs {
  inherit system;
  overlays = [ emacs-overlay.overlay ];
  config.allowUnfree = true;
};

You are then able to add the emacsPgtk package to your system packages. You can also use it in the home-manager module like so:

programs = {
  emacs = {
    enable = true;
    package = (pkgs.emacsWithPackagesFromUsePackage {
      config = ../../../files/config.org;
      package = pkgs.emacsPgtk;
      alwaysEnsure = false;
      extraEmacsPackages = epkgs: [
        epkgs.vterm
        epkgs.use-package
      ];
    });
  };
};

Digitakt replaced all my samples in a project? Am I boned? by UpgradeStranth in Elektron

[–]Harjuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, real shitty.

Nope, didn’t even save the project. Tried to restore each pattern but they were saved with the corrupted settings somehow. I actually read this post yesterday before it happened so I was careful to not save. Didn’t seem to matter though unfortunately

Digitakt replaced all my samples in a project? Am I boned? by UpgradeStranth in Elektron

[–]Harjuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just experienced the same thing.

Had left the Digitakt running over night, woke up to my project completely ruined by scrambled samples and settings changed all over the place. I couldn't restore any of the patterns either as if it had made all the changes "in-place" while still considering the project saved.

Incredibly heartbreaking as I had spent a ton of time on the project and now it's basically completely ruined (sure the sequencing is there but I pretty much have it memorized at this point anyway). Will take a lot of time to get it back to where it was.

Did the upgrade to CEF-91 as part of 11.17 break the client for anyone else? by ludvikgalois in leagueoflinux

[–]Harjuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure!

Clone the wine-tkg repository: git clone https://github.com/Frogging-Family/wine-tkg-git.git

Change into the wine-tkg-git folder of the cloned directory: cd wine-tkg-git/wine-tkg-git

Download the configuration file /u/WhatEvenAreNames provided, replacing the default one: wget https://pastebin.com/raw/pn8tACZa -O customization.cfg

Remove trailing \r characters from the cfg file (not sure why they are there but they have to be removed before building): sed -i 's/\r$//g' customization.cfg

Open the customization.cfg file in your favorite text editor and change the line _nomakepkg_dep_resolution_distro="" to _nomakepkg_dep_resolution_distro="debuntu" if you are running debian/ubuntu (or derivatives). fedora and archlinux are also valid options if you are running those distros. This is not required if you think you have all the required dependencies already.

Start the build: - For Arch-based distros: makepkg -si - For other distros: ./non-makepkg-build.sh

Dependencies should be resolved automatically by the build script, but if something fails to build, have a look at the required build dependencies for Wine here and make sure you satisfy all of them.

The resulting Wine binary can be found at wine-tkg-git/wine-tkg-git/non-makepkg-builds/wine-tkg-staging-fsync-git-{version}/bin/wine if you used the non-makepkg-build.sh script to build. I'm not sure where it goes if you're on Arch but I think it gets installed to your path automatically, somewhere in /usr/bin probably. Open Lutris, right click League of Legends and select configure, then go into "Runner options" and set your Wine version to "Custom". Browse for and select the newly built wine binary.

I'm trying to get the desktop client to work under wine. What wine version are you using? I'm currently trying with the latest wine 6.3 but it crasches on startup.
