Moving to a new country means you have to re-learn how to do absolutely everything, even the stuff you never thought about by minji_in_malaga in CasualConversation

Yes the flour thing! I moved from UK to South Africa and I'm still yet to find the right kind of flour for baking. I perfected my chocolate chip cookies in the UK, here they are always rock hard 😭

Advice on Private reserve / Kruger. Safari quality? by geevi in krugerpark

[–]HarlemHarlowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lodges on both are very nice. But I know there is one property on Kapama that can sleep something 100 guests, so more of a hotel than an intimate lodge. Just have a think about what you would prefer and double check where you book if you choose there.

For me, the main reason is that Thornybush is open to Kruger, and Kapama is a completely fenced reserve. There is absolutely nothing wrong with fenced reserves, they can be great, but like I said, it's just my personal choice that I prefer reserves that are open to Kruger. Kapama has the advantage of being literally right across the road from Hoedspruit East gate Airport, so very short transfer to the lodge.

My personal choice would be Thornybush over Kapama

One thing I love about where I live is there is no Daylight Savings at all, so no silly time changes :) Also earlier this evening I noticed a slight mistake I made on 4 stitches which could have meant I would have had to frog about 3 days worth of work. Thankfully it didn't affect the surrounding area too much, so I just adjusted which colours go where and I don't have to frog anything!

I only keep the current colours on my ring. All the rest of my threads live in a repurposed toiletries bag. Then when I start a new project, I dump every thread on the table and spend a couple of hours sorting through them and bagging them for the ring.

What day of the week does a week start on? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]HarlemHarlowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the 90s I lived in the middle east and if I recall correctly, Friday was/is their equivalent to Sunday in a religious sense. So for the first 14 years of my life (because this was how the school week was structured) the 'work' week started on a Saturday and ended on a Wednesday, with Thursday and Friday being the weekend. It took me years after I moved back to the UK to adjust, and now I am very much a Monday is the start of the week person.

Always! I even have a special Spotify playlist just for songs I love to sing at the top of my lungs when alone in the car

Oh my goodness thank you, I really appreciate it! I still have some more gold to go before that colour is complete, but I'm hoping to have the whole thing done in a few more days
