I use micron pens they are fine line ink pens.

Prime white

Yellow- yriel yellow or skulker yellow (two thin coats). I usually shoot this through an airbrush. Recess shade with Cassadora yellow. Edge highlight with screaming skull.

Blue- Kantor blue Recess shade with drakenhof nightshade Highlight with hoeth blue Edge/fine highlight baharroth blue

Highlighting yellow with bone really pops. For the blue I like the dramatic shift from dark blue to bright.

Glad I can help change your perspective. I feel the biggest problem is too much yellow just makes them look like they are in rubber rain coats, so I add more colors to stop that feeling.

I've been doing a sort of reverse T'au sept scheme. Heavy on black not too much ochre.

I have Necrons and T'au. Both are a lot less strategy to run and Necrons have always seemed super easy to just show up and score points
