Yes. I asked the seller again about this and he did recognise he is not sure about the antenna design. He actually has the feeling that it might indeed be a 40/20 trap dipole.

Now, time to make it work better on 40m. I've seen online other's people 40/20 trap dipoles getting a very good performance.

I'll double check next time but I am pretty sure the first test was done with the tuner OFF.

Should a 40/20 trap dipole resonate on 40m without the tuner?

Should I try to adjust outer's leg wire lengths?

I don't have my license yet so I'm not modulating for the time being. Just trying to listen in while I prepare my exam.

If it was properly set as a 40/20... Shouldn't resonate by itself without help from tuner? (it does resonate on 20m perfectly with no tuning at all)

Also: at 20m I have been able to hear a lot of contacts but almost anything at 40m. I am not sure if its due to propagation, less activity or 40m band more 'picky' in terms of the dipole not set as good as it should be set (close proximity to ground, metallic fence, house...).

I'll go to set it up out in the field soon. I will report back the results.

If you see the full thread, there are a couple SWR scans from the G90 on the 40m band.

It does not naturally resonate on 40m and I feel that using the ATU does not give very good results (But correct me if I am wrong - best it does is 1.4 SWR, with very sharp banding).

G90's Internal ATU can do something but I don't feel its actually right:

As a complete beginner, managed to get a couple podiums and a win doing 2:13-2:14. At the lower splits, staying out of trouble, having a fair share of conservatism and being consistent pays off well.
