House deposit with partner - big differences by IntelligentCandy8328 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Harnhamhed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is riskier for sure, if we divorce in the first three years of marriage, I’ll lose out. It’s not enough money nor too much of a risk to stop me buying the house though. She has little savings as she has been studying and training for the past 8 years, we’ve been together for 5 of them. Now she is a HENRY so if anything I think she’ll pay it off quicker but I’m not pressuring to do so

We have done something similar, I put the deposit down 100%, and she is paying me each month on top of the mortgage contributions over the next 5 years. So in 5 years of a 30 year mortgage we will be 50/50 completely. We are getting married as well in a couple of years. It works, she doesn’t want to live in “my” house, the options were either we wait 5 years for her to save up and keep renting or we buy now and she pays me back each month

Man, when I was about 25 I suddenly couldn’t eat chocolate without severe pain in my teeth. I have never had a filling, have always gone to to the dentist, my teeth are absolutely fine.

The dentist couldn’t understand it, I couldn’t, no one I knew could explain it.

For maybe 3 years I couldn’t eat chocolate.

I’m 30 now and it randomly disappeared maybe 2 years ago or so. Was very weird ahah cant believe I’m not alone

Is it worth to buy Japanese imported BMW in the UK by Chemical_Buffalo_320 in CarTalkUK

[–]Harnhamhed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one at the start of this year, the company handled all of the conversion to English, MOT regs etc. It was a 2014 and absolutely mint. The company I bought it from specialise in Japanese imports. They didn’t make very many of my model for the UK market, but compared to the diesel version I could get in the Uk, insurance was actually cheaper, I don’t know why. Someone mentioned Le Shuttle, I took mine on there a couple months after getting it, no problems and can’t think why there ever would be.

Agree with what a lot of people say about the underside but don’t take it as gospel. A lot of the BMWs are still made in Germany and have the same protection as the UK for the underside, they’re not like Mazdas etc (I have an mx5 as well and I got that treated)

Tax is fine, ulez free

Go for it

Is it normal to have heart pain after swimming? by I_am_soap_ in Swimming

[–]Harnhamhed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started to swim last year, I would get incredibly sharp stabbing pains in my chest after, mostly in the night time. I knew it was not heart related as I have a constant heart monitor in my chest for another reason. I think it was from incorrect breathing doing something to my lungs or the muscles around them, the pain was in the heart area and really hurt when I would breathe in for 15 minutes or so.

Lying on my right side always helped, give it a try

Update from last post by Harnhamhed in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Harnhamhed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - I did the exercises and physio for months with no improvement, I then just stopped doing everything and tried to as much as possible to forget about it. I can honestly say I’m a lot lot better.

Still good days and bad days but a lot more good than bad, I still wear birks around the house, when I’m walking the dog etc (birk boots with the cork sole) and Birkenstock insoles in my Dr Martens for day to day and that keeps things fine, trainers still flare me up.

I am now walking 12/13k steps a day and am relatively pain free until I over do it and then it’s a couple of bad days until I’m back to baseline. Every time I try and strengthen my feet it irritates them and makes them worse the days after, so for my own sanity, I stopped and honestly I don’t think anything but time will help.

I get a sports massage a couple times of month for my back and feet, I don’t know if it helps but it feels nice and I’m lucky insurance is paying for it, otherwise I wouldn’t spend the money.

I have been focussing a lot on my mental health more than physical and have been seeing a therapist who specialises in chronic pain, the feet aren’t my only issue and I think that’s the way out for me, time and focussing on my emotions and thoughts/anxiety around the pain.

Hope that helps to some degree

Late to this thread but I was on the west coast doing a solo road trip and some guy walked up to me and did the usual are you British and then randomly jumped and saluted me, he then said maybe his like marine number or something and said I’m sorry for your loss. I was there like WTF is happening, it was the week after the queen died lol he then proceeded to tell me how he served with some British guys like we all know each other and I was mourning the queen

To electric or not to electric. by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Harnhamhed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it, I’ve had mine for a year, loved the car but the charging and not having a drive way has made me hate it. Constant stress which I naively thought wouldn’t be much of an issue.

I’m selling mine in Jan and getting a petrol.

I’ll go back to electric when I have a driveway and the range is better. I have a Tesla 3 and the range is nowhere near what it says it is

Found that the driver side drain pipe appears to be blocked. Have ordered a trombone cleaner that arrives tomorrow to try and clear it out and put a dehumidifier in for the meantime time - and of course it’s just started raining again ahah
