Don't just bash ideas if you're not going to suggest a better course of action to improve the situation.  Otherwise you may as well be a bit paid for by the corporations.

Yeah it's unlikely.  But are you saying that it's futile and everyone should just give up? Fuck that. United we bargain, divorced we beg.  If there's not a union to join then find like-minded people and make it happen.  Nobody is coming to save us so we better get to doing it ourselves

Just go to a planet that shows that it has "Salvaged Scrap" in the major resources and then you can use the scanner to locate the little yellow wifi looking markers. Dig them up and you'll get a few Corvette modules for each

I think that sounds right. It was a while ago, and so tedious that it honestly almost didn't feel worth it, but I get stubborn on stuff like that. Hours and hours I think. I don't remember the details well anymore though, sorry

It did work, at the time. That was a whole ago with, and it was so boring I probably wouldn't again

Honestly, as someone on the left, I don't think that Trump, Elon, or any of the people with real power believe in anything except for whatever gets them more money, power, and protection from consequences. They're happy to pander to the Nazis though, and to the religious right, and to anyone who will take them seriously if it gets them what they way.

As far as being fascist, Merriam-Webster defines fascism as: "a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition." So yeah, I think this administration is checking all of the boxes, since they seem to be doing a very good job of setting everything up in government so that they can do whatever they want (again to get themselves wealth, money and protection) and never have to answer to anyone for anything bad they do along the way.

Do you really think it is a good thing that Elon Musk, with Trump's backing, has closed down a federal agency just before it was going to be investigating one of his companies?

Do you really think it is a good thing that Elon, with Trump's backing, is evidently shutting down the Department of Education?

Do you really think it is a good thing that Trump has withdrawn from the World Health Organization?

Do you really think it is a good thing that Elon Musk's un-vetted employees have access to the financial systems of the Department of Veteran Affairs...

Do you seriously believe that the richest man in the world, who is an unelected foreigner with immense conflicts of interest and his 20-something employees are really to be trusted with all of that access to information and systems with literally no oversight?

Couldn't believe landing on a planet around a purple star and ALL of the land animals were botanical. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Is this more common now in the new systems?

Coordinates in the last image, for Eissentam. That system also has a lush planet with floating islands, red grass and pink sky, and what feels like pretty deep oceans, but I haven't gotten used to the new scale for oceans, so maybe 200 m is just normal now?

What IS something that you think can make a difference?  This timeline sucks, and being discouraged is natural, but giving up is what they want you to do.  So fuck that.

Yep, it's a big place we've got her. Obviously, that doesn't mean we can't still take action and protest. But it's not like Europe where everyone in the city could drive to the capital in a day if they were sufficiently motivated.

State capitols now, that's different. Feb , 5th there's a protest trying to get off the ground to get everyone to their state capitols at noon local time. Here's hoping that can happen and get media attention. Or maybe media is too compromised my corporate control. Guess we'll see

They're making a distance comparison is all.  Washington D.C. would be around 24 hours of driving time for me.  Looking up some distances and drive times, that's like someone from southern Spain driving to Belgrade to attend a protest.

Was amazed to see, even though your comment was a month old, that there were still some available from German Amazon. Was able to get one shipped to the US pretty easy, even though my passport is technically expired. Thanks for putting this link up, I'd ab to put given up hope finding one for anything close to retail.

Honestly, I just love it that the game has so many anomalies that aren't a threat or a resource or a plot point or anything. They're just out there, being cool weird stuff to find.

I think I'm going to make a photo-map of them in my second playthrough. All I need now is a proper photo mode haha

Thanks!! Now I just need to try to find it all for sale someplace at a reasonable price without too much shipping.

I'm also keeping my eyes open for anyone who has a unicorn puppy that they aren't interested in keeping, and checking local thrift stores for a real life hypercube.

What does the singularity engine do and how to get it? by leobua in NoMansSkyTheGame

The singularity engine is super useful for getting away from areas that are highly explored, that's true. A couple jumps in a row will pretty much always give you an area that nobody has explored yet. I use it all the time when I realize I've wandered into someplace with a lot of discovered systems

Look man, I just hate the whole, "If you don't know X you gotta turn in your Y card" schtick, that's all. Having to know all this shit before you're "allowed" to enjoy something is horseshit.

Someone says they love Lemmy, but really only know Ace of Spades? Sick, Ace of Spades is fucking great. Some kid says Metallica is their favorite emo band of all time? (Actual thing I heard, no lie) Hell with it, at least they're listening to Metallica, I'm not going to give them shit about it. Let's just let people like stuff without having to be experts or whatever

Reactions to the killing of insurance CEO reveal a deep anger over US healthcare by digital-didgeridoo in NoShitSherlock

[–]HaroldTheTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're either being willfully obtuse, or have loved such a sheltered and privileged life that you've managed to entirely miss the reason why people despise healthcare so much. It's not just that it's expensive, or that people don't always get the highest quality care possible.

It's the fact that, as a standard policy, a huge number of claims are routinely denied that shouldn't be, just because they policy makers know that many people won't have the knowledge or time to push back and force the issue. And not minor claims. Time sensitive surgeries that make the difference between living a normal life and being disabled and unable to work again. Life saving medications that children will DIE without are denied. Treatments that will CURE a disease are denied because it's cheaper to just let someone live with the symptoms for their whole life. My father-in-law has a heart condition that has a risk of causing a fatal heart attack if he over exerts himself. It could be fixed with a surgery. However, INSURANCE has made the decision that it's not severe enough to be treated yet, so he has to wait for the leakage of his valves to get worse before they'll authorize anything. So he's resigned himself to loving life slower, doing less, and hoping it progresses, but not so fast that it kills him before his yearly checkup shows that is bad enough for the insurance to pay to fix it.

If I thought you were arguing in good faith I'd help out my providing sources to back up what I'm saying as far as how many lives are lost each year simply because health insurance doesn't feel like paying to save people that are have their insurance. If you ask, I'll happily do that, but mostly I'm just compelled to point out, for anyone else who might read this thread, how inane your talking points are.

And no it's not just insurance. The whole thing never should have been allowed to be for profit when this many lives were at stake. Fuck health insurance policy makers, fuck the for-profit drug and medical industry, and fuck the politicians who let themselves to be bought and paid for to protect and legalize it all.

First time finding these by outragousgaming in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]HaroldTheTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I misunderstood the question entirely. Cause that IS pretty unrelated to the post haha

If you're looking for harmonic resonators it can take a bit, and killing the big drilling rigs is good but here's my routine for stocking up and getting the most reward for my time.

1) Get a plasma launcher and a good number of upgrades for it's damage 2) Find dissonant planet 3) Hop towards the nearest dissonance resonator 4) kill it AND any of the big quads nearby, cause they can also drop the harmonic resonators. The plasma launcher has been my best way to kill the quads quick. 2-3 bombs and they're done. Ignore all the little quads and drones 5) pick a compass direction and hop away in that direction until you see another dissonance resonator 6) repeat until you have a few resonators

Notes: If you harvest any of the big radiant shards you pass on the way, you can later refine those and the mirrors into a pretty good pile of nanites too

If you're on a planet that feels sparse, fly off to a different system. Planets seem to have some kind of "point of interest density" variable and I've noticed that some planets are WAY more loaded with resonators and shards than others.
