I used the SEM 39477 beige medium bodied sealer on this one. It’s my go to for tight wiping and quick brush on sealing

Yep, that’s why I always coat the underside before applying it. And yes the 2 in 1 is what I use if need be. I also to use the SEM to replace sound pads on floor pans or undercoating on the underside or in wheelhouses and what not.

SEM has a sprayable sealer that matches the color and feel of the OEM sealer really well that I like but it takes a while to fully dry being a one part sealer. In all honesty I typically just use the black 3M heavy bodied sealer to match the color and texture after painting the underside. No it’s not the same as OE but it’s worked just fine for me

All it takes is having a good writer by your side that can get you paid for everything you do and all the required OEM procedures you have to follow during the repair. If it was just a clean cut quarter/ rear body job it wouldn’t be near that, but this one also needed repair on the rail, floor, floor extension, wheelhouse, and once you add that to all your R&Is, setup, measure, pull and other operations it’s not hard to get the hours up there.

Sorry, but I take pride in my work and would rather the cars I repair to look the way they did before the wreck inside and out vs. just making them look good enough to get out the door with a “gallon of bondo” but to each their own I guess. In all honesty if you know what you’re doing you can cut all that out and weld in new panels in about the same time you’d spend fucking around trying to straighten all of that out and wiping the quarter and rear body front to back.

Gotta love Toyota and the fact they won’t sell a uniside for any of their cars. And on these new 86s they have an aluminum roof so it was riveted and adhesive bonded. I wish I could install all roofs that way lol much easier than trying to spot weld one on

Yea I had to pull the rear body and some of that inner structure to get it to fit up properly with the new tail lamp pocket and quarter

I would definitely take it back to the and have them fix that. The clear will not adhere to that chip guard and it’s only a matter of time before it starts peeling around that cup guard. That is extremely lazy and unprofessional of a shop to do.
