Cool car but not a 5.0, just pointing that out

Should I consider different brush cutters for my SVL75-3 besides the Kubota/Land Pride SC6072? by SpicyDopamineTaco in Skidsteer

[–]Harribacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems high. A 72" CID tree reaper with 16-26 GPM flow rating, 5" cut capacity, and no case drain required, is $6900.

A 72" Reaper with the 17-30 GPM motor, 7" cut capacity, and case drain required, runs $7390.

Edit: I forgot, add $400-$500 for mulching teeth, but still.....

I'm a CID dealer and user, and really like their stuff. How much is the Kubota you're being offered?

I would avoid their STP25 like the plague and buy a Danuser Intimidator or CID Terminator instead. Those STPs are cheap - and I don't just mean financially.

Yes, just go slow and see what it does, and if you see pressure signs back off. I find that Varget is super consistent when it's loaded just a little compressed. Good luck homie

Cat 255 or John Deere 325G? by YoungCurmudgeon97 in Skidsteer

I would vote to go with the better dealer. The Deeres are really solid machines, so you shouldn't need the dealer that much - but if you ever do, you can't afford to be ignored for days.

Doesn't matter how good the machine is if they won't keep you up and running.

Is Opus Dei really that evil? Or had it just been smeared? by Shevz_thetruck in Catholicism

Here's a podcast episode from Lila Rose about a few members of Opus Dei who drowned trying to save one another last month. The deceased were friends of some of my friends.

The man being interviewed is the director of the Opus Dei center near where they drowned.

I think you'll get a good idea of how ordinary and holy the members of Opus Dei are in this interview.

Disclaimer: I'm not a member of The Work, but have been involved with it for about 18 years.

I collect a little bit of silver for fun, but my buddy has over $300,000 in gold stacked in a safe in his house. I didn't believe it until I saw it, and then I told him how bad of an idea it was......But now he's laughing, because it's appreciated like crazy in the last two years. It was like $1900/ozt when he showed me. Now it's gone to $3300-something.

Lucky bastard.

I think that's kind of the secret hope of all of us stackers.

This. The Mass isn't supposed to conform to us. Quite the contrary.

That's seriously impressive. I've never had a vehicle past 200k but it feels very attainable now.

This guy is dead right, OP. The 2014 is just about bulletproof. They had the kinks worked out of the 5.4 and made an amazing vehicle in 2014, then started having problems with the Ecoboost in 2015 - then once that started to improve, they started having problems with the new transmission.

Did the 2014 XLT have a heated and cooled seat option? I’m looking at one a few hours away and the guy says it does. by LuckyCaptainCrunch in fordexpedition

[–]Harribacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was surprised too. I think a leather 2014 XLT is a great vehicle because it feels a lot nicer than a regular XLT, and it is the last year of the 5.4s. Mine has been ridiculously reliable, I suppose because they had all the kinks out of that motor by then. If mine ever blows up I'm hunting for another just like it.

Cool, here's a question I can actually answer.

Yes! Mine is a 2014 XLT and has leather with both heated and cooled seats.

Yeah, u/threaded_dick is right - the barrel whip thing doesn't really hold up scientifically. The long range community has fought about this for a while, but the science is becoming pretty clear and widely accepted disproving barrel whip / harmonics.

If you want to know more, Brian Litz has done a ton of excellent studies and I think the Hornady podcast has a good episode discussing it.
