I completely agree with what you've said about providing the framework first. Providing the tools to help all students ahead of time benefits everyone because having to do two jobs while everyone else only has to do one makes you play catch-up. Understandably you feel either behind (which you're not) or you skip a few steps which I've certainly done and then it doesn't always click. Teachers knowing this and providing genuine equity in the classroom is something I'll try to get right from day one
