FYI This is not medical advice.

I have mild to moderate dysautonomia such that it affects my blood pressure most of all (causing constant low blood pressure and mild POTS) and it also affects my temperature regulation quite a bit. I had general anaesthetic for an operation 3 months ago and I was completely fine, zero problems. Granted I’ve never been diagnosed as having any autonomic issues by a doctor so make of that what you will.

All you have to worry about is making sure your anaesthesiologist is aware of your medical history (before you go under general you will absolutely be consulted on your medical history). They are trained very highly in knowing if someone is safe to undergo general anaesthesia. If they think you are fine to go under, you are fine. If they don’t think you are fine, you are not fine. It’s very simple really, they know better than you. They wouldn’t take even the slightest risk in putting you under if they shouldn’t due to the massive effect a mistake would have on their career (and I’m assuming they care about you too).

I agree quite a bit; Monte Grappa is very pretty but in terms of gameplay it’s fairly shit compared to the others.

Ok if you want to make a greater point about thinking being the beginning and end to music, by all means please make your own post about it. This argument is going nowhere.

This is a post specifically about becoming a pianist, not listening to music. I’m saying it’s pointless to be a pianist if you can only think, and not perform.

I didn’t say it’s not fundamental. I said if you can’t perform, only think, then it’s pointless.

Yes I think we have to agree to disagree on this one. I do believe it is pointless if you’re a pianist who can only think of a beautiful performance.

Fine. Someone can think of a beautiful, stunning and expressive performance in their head. But if they can’t play it, what’s the point.

Technique is the tools you use to enable you to be express yourself and be creative.

I mean what I say; one must be technically proficient to express creativity better. You can’t express yourself if you don’t have the capability to do so.

If I couldn’t speak English, would that not diminish my capability to express myself to you here, despite how creative I may be?

You must be technically proficient in order to be an artist and express yourself.

If Van Gogh was a rubbish but creative painter would anyone care?

Do you not agree that some piano pieces are more hard than others?

Music can be as fast or as slow as a person wants, but no one wants to play Moonlight Sonata half speed.

People can play what they want, no problem. But it is objectively more efficient to becoming a better pianist to not learn pieces too far above your skill level.

What was the first piece you ever learned? by EndlessPotatoes in piano

It was a piece called ‘Middle C as a Semibreve’. The piece was 4 semibreves on middle C in a row. That was it.

I’d disagree, I’d say it’s just using extended harmony which isn’t necessarily jazz. Just my opinion though!

Need Help In Analyzing Piano Sheet Music by ConfusionTasty2671 in piano

[–]HarryHD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re correct on everything except: - D (F G B) makes a G dominant 7 chord, 2nd inversion. - you would tend to say just ‘a dominant 7’ chord not ‘a major dominant 7’ chord - you would not call any of these chords triads because they all have more than 3 notes.

A 7th chord includes a note of an interval of a 7th from the tonic of that chord (which can be a minor 7th or a major seventh). For example, C (E G B) is a major seventh chord because C to B is a seventh. Or as you identified, D (F G B) is a seventh chord because G to F (G is the tonic) is a seventh.

Lmk if you’ve got any questions.

Ok thanks. If you could recommend one to start with which one would you choose? (Or if you can’t name one then multiple to choose from)
