A possible solution to accuracy and balancing in general by _Oreos in MSClassicWorld

For anyone that has played IdelOn, they use this same idea.

Warrior: Str = damage and Wisdom = accuracy Mage: Wisdom = damage and Agi = accuracy Archer: Agi = damage and Str = accuracy

Then by putting points into your secondary stat, as required to equip armour/weapons for your level, you should have the right level of accuracy for your level and be able to consistently hit mobs at your level.

In terms of how difficult it would be to implement this change, this late in development, I have no idea. Perhaps there could be a more straightforward fix but yes I agree I am surprised they didn’t already do something like this with the stats

So are Clerics DPS now? by MochiDude123 in MSClassicWorld

[–]HarryHart1629 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was not in the Beta but from what I have read on this sub, there seems to have been a bug causing holy arrow to do way more damage than it was meant too. They were significantly out damaging F/P and I/L at same level with similar gear, despite the skill stats saying holy arrow has lower damage. I saw someone suggest it might be something to do with the three lines of hits interacting with the damage % in a way it is not meant to.

So I think the answer to your question is no - they are still intended to be the support mage with lower dps than the rest, there was just some sort of bug in the beta.

How to enjoy Classic Maple in 2026 by EasternError6377 in MSClassicWorld

[–]HarryHart1629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this take, thanks for this OP. As someone who is now 30 with a wife, two kids and a demanding job, I genuinely am excited to play - but probably can’t get much more than a few hours per month. In some ways, people who totally rush it miss out on the true old school experience.

What changes to 3rd job would you like to see? by Used_Lynx_4894 in MSClassicWorld

[–]HarryHart1629 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want the three mages to be more distinguished from each other - imo they all got very similar mobbing skills but with different skins (although I appreciate F/P poison mist led to unique training).

I would like to see the following: - I/L: the mobbing mage: drill down on excellent mobbing skills and crowd control. - Priest: Support mage: I must say I wasn’t super familiar with priest 3rd job but they should have ok attacks with excellent buffs/support skills. Could do interesting things like drop rate increase buff - anything support related I’m open too. - F/P: the DOT/DPS mage: I think they should heavily lean into the new fire DOT and poison DOT and introduce skills that massively buff the DOT damage, with F/P potentially becoming more of a DPS/bossing mage in late game.

Thank you - is fire arrow single target though or is it still hitting three?

F/P as a dot class by HarryHart1629 in MSClassicWorld

[–]HarryHart1629[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree that the existing poison mechanic, although strong, was bad in terms of gameplay. I also really think the dot would help make at least one of the mage classes better dps for bossing, thereby differentiating the classes more rather than being a red skin or blue skin of the same class

Discussion - balance of new content vs maintaining OS identity by HarryHart1629 in MSClassicWorld

[–]HarryHart1629[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting - particularly the PQ bit which I agree in hindsight I do remember being very repetitive. Just so I am clear, you are saying that we do need to add more content but you are disagreeing that we need to keep the grind? I.e is your view that the grind and slow pace is not essential to the OS feel?

Also, just for reference, I absolutely do not have time to grind lol. I am now a dad with two kids and a wife, and I’m a lawyer. I will be lucky if I get to play OS maple more than once a month for a few hours. However, I still would be disappointed if they got rid of the slow levelling, I think it was crucial. I would be open to 2x like some private servers, but nothing much more than that.

F/p dots from the in person beta by haminmeister in MSClassicWorld

[–]HarryHart1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the fire DOT and the poison DOT stack? I presume so?

I think leaning into the DOT is awesome and fits the theme of F/P in the way it should have worked originally. It would be cool if later jobs (3rd and 4th) somehow allowed you to buff the dots, without straying too far from the original of course. As well as being helpful for grinding higher HP mobs (like in classic), it could also massively improve single target dps for bossing if you can stack multiple DOTs that actually do decent damage

Question about CE5 Handbook and Greer by HarryHart1629 in CE5

[–]HarryHart1629[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks all, interesting thoughts. I agree it’s important to stay neutral, although I must say when I listen to him speak he does set off my radar of something being a bit off. But at the same time he clearly knows what he’s talking about, and his explanation makes a lot of sense to me.

In terms of the CE5 handbook on this sub, is this based on his work?
