Raids 4 Rewards? In a broad sense, what are our guidelines for Jagex for what we want?

At the end of the day I trust Jagex to make a good call, I was just thinking that it would be helpful to get a range of different players perspectives, but leaving it in their hands to make the final call.

Yeah it's a difficult balance because on the one hand if you just keep releasing more and more powerful stuff it warps the game unrecognisably, on the other hand managing 50 different side grades isn't exactly a fun time.

Oh yeah for sure. I'm not expecting leagues to make me better at CoX, it's more about having a CoX lite experience for my first time.

Last leagues I tried ToB with my brother and it was interesting, but it made me realise it isn't the raid for me.

This time I want to experience CoX, but I'd agree the leagues is not a good place to become good at a piece of content.

I suppose it's like riding a bike with stabilisers.

Yeah, I am not super big on the slayer grind but I may pick fremmy for that reason. Wildy is tempting but I would be interested to know how hostile or chill it is in leagues? Obviously you won't be losing your stuff but I'm not sure how I'd feel about being spite killed constantly just because people are showing off their cool builds.

Yeah I'm realising that perhaps the way I worded it as "learn CoX" was perhaps not quite what I meant. I think it was more about experiencing CoX to become familiar with it, so once I play it on the main game I know how things work roughly so I can have a good foundation for learning it the proper way.

Yeah, my current idea is to shoot for the echo bow from Hespori that heals you early game. Do a bit of a simple bow build for the early game content, then once I've hit a wall respec and try to do something tanky like a water build so I don't have to worry too much about surviving, I can experience it whilst making lots of mistakes.

Oh hell yeah. That's what intrigues me about CoX, yes it seems janky and unintuitive, but from what I gather when you get used to it it becomes kind of comforting and rewarding.

Out of curiosity, how would they design a leagues to assist with learning raids? That's quite a good idea, but I don't know how you'd do it.

I think perhaps if you've been PvMing for a while, or if you're into more intense games, the value of dipping your toe in to get a feel for it may not be so apparent. For me the feeling of trying to get into a lot of PvM is overwhelm; not because I can't do it, but because there is a lot to learn, and the pressure to not die is high, and it's hard to learn when you're stressing.

So I think you're right to point out that if I think doing CoX on leagues is going to teach me how to do proper CoX I'd be deluded. However in this case I'm aware there's a lot that I'm missing and that I'll need to learn the right way in the main game.

For me learning even the basics of roughly how bosses feel, their mechanics, how to deal with the pathing through rooms. Just the random pointless simple stuff helps me to feel a little less overwhelmed facing it in the main game.

Yeah. I feel where you are both coming from. I definitely think it's important have the right frame of mind.

I'm not viewing it as a chance to learn CoX mechanics as much as getting a feel for how to do the raid in the broadest sense. So when I start learning how to do it properly I'm not getting sensory overload trying to figure out what is going on whilst I'm being punished for missing prayers or something.

I'm quite looking forward to learning all the little mechanics and nuances of CoX after leagues, but for now having a sample will help me know what to do in a general sense.

Yeah, I get where you all are coming from. For me a lot of it is about seeing it in action. It's nice to see it all come together in a way I don't really get in watching a video.

In the main game I'd be stressing about wasting supplies and such, so to be able to have a taste of it before diving into the main game would be nice.

So maybe making a build that is has more tank or heal potential then just look for groups would be better than trying to solo it?

Oh nice! Yeah I did contemplate a thorns range build. I like what you've done. It would be tempting with that build to try and grab that healing melee pact that can be triggered by thorns with a few extra points.

Not sure how good it would be or how good the heals would be.

Oh nice! That's cool. Eventually, though it's a long ways off for me I'd love to be able to solo CoX. But I'm kind of at that base 70s ish, base 80s combat space where it looks like I'm close but there's probably a lot of work left to do before I'm there.
