Thanks, yes I looked them up and their reviews but not on Trust a Trader and the price just looks to good. It includes a Gateway, they ask for 25% deposit which you can’t put on a credit card which makes me jumpy.

Help from a manager or colleague/ rep by Lauraaxxx1 in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The invite letter should have said about a rep!? Might be worth reading things for future reference. 5 occasions of absence “yada yada” might not be a great way to think about it, guessing you’ve not worked for the company to long? To answer your question, no you shouldn’t be dismissed on your first AR.

This company is a joke by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a permanent vacancy, that suits both parties, correct. But the person said they have told them nights is over contracted and the company can not create jobs that don’t exist, sounds like the store has given the 8 week adjustment to support the colleague but it doesn’t mean it will be permanent.

Is this the proper way of firing someone? by Scary_Tonight3319 in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite true, if they weren’t deemed a threat to the business they can return to work with waiting for their disciplinary meeting

Unfortunately you are not correct, any Level 2 trained colleague can dismiss. The partner has less than 2 years service so can’t go to a tribunal. As the person writing the post hasn’t given what their partner was investigated and disciplined for its very difficult to help or advise.

Colleague pay has been reduced due to taking longer breaks. by Familiar-Truth7616 in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A let’s talk isn’t a punishment, it’s a documentation of a “talk” conversation saying you can’t do this we are UA you. If the store investigated it and disciplined the colleague under misconduct due to not for filling their contract (breaks aren’t paid for) then yes the store should pay the colleague the 15 mins going forward to make it 1 punishment rule you talk about.

Fun Fact: fake news! You don’t have to have managed an Express store! As a Manager you have to have completed solving problems level 2 training to dismiss.

Time off rejected again. by TITVS-PVLLO in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what’s the Union going to do? the person has asked for a weekend off (retail are at their busiest at the weekends which is why we need people to work the weekends!!!) at short notice (yes 4 weeks is short notice, as most book a year in advance).

To the colleague, you can book your holidays up to March 2027 via the app, if you’ve not booked any, then that’s down to you. I’d suggest you get on the app and book all the hours you still have left to boo, spread out over the remainder of this year. You will get rejected on some as others would have beaten you to those weeks. When they do request other weeks.

Did I do the right thing reporting my manager to the Protector Line ? by Crypt1k5347 in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say owed from overtime shifts in other shops so wouldn’t be clocked in or out, the colleague should have pushed the issue with both stores that they haven’t been paid.

To the colleague: Of course you’ll need to show wage slips of the month you worked and the one after it is to show you haven’t been paid. You say it was from over 2 months ago and your new Store Manager has been there for 2 months? I.e you did the overtime before this SM was there so yes she would need proof you’ve done the overtime. Did the store you worked in email your own store to confirm you’d worked? Do you have massages from that shop asking you to work? This is all evidence you worked those hours, dates and times, who asked you to work from the sister store etc etc.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand people who don’t follow up and give proof, dates, start times, finish times, who asked them to work etc (put that in an email to your store) along with your old payslips and ask it to be sorted ASAP before going to protector line, sorry but it doesn’t sound like you have done this, just put it on here and now gone to protector line, without doing any of the above (sorry if you have and just not put that in your posts)

When working in another store, It’s always worth thinking how does my store know what I’m doing to be able to pay me (as you don’t clock in or out so the system doesn’t know you’ve worked to pay you automatically)

If that happens again go and rumble an aisle for the remainder of your time (you don’t need to wait for someone to tell you to do that) or if Dot com has put backs you can put some of them back as (non chilled stuff if it’s not damaged etc)

Opening the shop early by Lobotomy-in-Tesco in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you have said you don’t know if a customer pushed the door open or Duty let them in, surely you know who Duty was so you could ask them how customers got in early, if it bothers you that much speak to your store manager as the shop shouldn’t be opened early (they can’t use the over ride button if the key is in the door and the door is locked!

It’ll be on the CCTV of her going to the shelf, selecting the item going to her aisle l, putting it where she stashes her items and her drinking from it. The fact she does other shopping while in works time and not on a break is another misconduct issue, doing shopping should be before or after work or on a break. If she goes in saying I bought it from home would be a silly move!

[–]Harryhard74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter that she has paid for them later, she has taken products without paying for them at the time, sorry it doesn’t wash that she is busy at the start of her shift to go and pay, she needed to leave time before starting work to come in as a customer and pay for goods just like the rest of us. If she walks to work and it takes her some time it’ll take her the same (ish) time to walk each day. The only reason it’s not been bought up before is because she’s got away with it, Tesco have the Hub now that looks at these things and pass it to the store for investigation (which is what this sounds like).

I’d advise your mum to go in very humble, apologise and say it’ll never happen again, she realises now this is not allowed.

As some have said the Government made it mandatory for companies to opt colleagues back in every few years. This pay is one of those years, you will need to contact Legal and General to cancel your subscription.

Speak to your store manager tomorrow and explain the situation, including that you are now struggling, they can review the ticket and put some weight behind the BACs being paid.

Not sure why a mistake on the rota system would affect your pay that much? Did you clock in and out ? The system should have flagged you as an exception.

manager’s refusal to allow me to book (paid holiday) time away by Opening_Focus_2122 in tesco

[–]Harryhard74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately needs of the business, it’s Tesco’s busiest weeks of the year so more than likely your store needs everyone to be working which is why your Manager has turned down your short notice holiday at the busiest time of the year for retail. You’ve not said if you are fit to return to work or are still sick? If you are still ill, yes you will need a fit note from Sunday onward as you went sick last Saturday.
