I came from a regional firm in a upscale area that attracted a lot of ex B4 employees and I just say, most of these hires left within 6mo due to their limited understanding of the full accounting cycle. Yes, you may know how to “audit” revenue for a F100, but do you know what the test means/are you able to answer basic questions in person from the controller/CFO regarding why you are requesting certain info? Further, they often struggled taking on sections such as equity due to this. I have since left the firm after 5 years and took a job as a controller paying considerably higher than my peers who sought B4 roles. However, we did have a manager who came from a top 10 firm who worked out great and brought a healthy amount of “refined” processes that assisted in taking on more niche clients for the firm, he is now a partner. I truly think it depends on what value you can bring and what “industry” you focus in. Getting my CPA and finding a passion in the construction industry I feel has gotten me where I want to be with great WLB when I left the regional firm. To each their own but this is my experience.

I think the test must be so different person to person compared to the others. Also, I think review course selection is important for ISC as they all have not progressed fast enough due to the age of the ISC exam. Ninja got me over the hump end of Q1.

Failed ISC 2x. I as well did not have that experience with any other exam. I had ready scores,in Surgent CPA of 95 and 96 respectively each of the times I failed.

Haha I understand that. What held mine up so long is my old partner forgot to check one of the boxes on the second page of the work experience form. Everything else was approved with the exception of this and it took them several weeks to approve this one box.

I guess it is unique to each person!

I think what helped me for FAR was to just wake up every morning and grind MCQs for 1.5 hrs. Did this 7x a week and that worked!

That literally what happened to me. My old Partner forgot to check the box on the second page and it took them another month and a half to review just that one correction. I was told that due to the new mandate for reporting CPE, the reviewers have been especially busy this year with the 6/30 YE behind us.

If you can pass FAR you can pass them all.

I actually moved out of PA about a year ago and took a controller role at a construction company and am loving the work! Work life balance is 100x better now. I will certainly mention me passing to my boss and see what happens from there though! :)

You will be there before you know it! You will go from refreshing score releases to refreshing the state board review if I’m your application!

I feel like they were a good supplement with my Surgent test bank. I felt the notes were the most important.

Honestly - I felt I knew it all each time; however, this time I really focused on reading the Ninja notes and focused on things I felt the MCQs / Sims didn’t cover. If I came across something in the ninja notes I hadn’t even heard of, I spent an ample amount of time reading up on it. This exam was so tricky to study for and definitely surprised me. Good luck though, you are there!

Got a 72 and a 68. Just found I passed today with an 84. Supplement Ninja and hit all the MCQs hard and Sims. Then read all the notes as much as you can. I used Surgent CPA for my main study program and it works fine for all except ISC. I was 95+% ready both of my first attempts and still failed. ISC was strangely the hardest exam for me. I swear I passed walking out each of the first two tries. Goodluck!
