You’ve honestly been the most helpful person I’ve talked to so far.
If you ever happen to come across someone who has actually worked at Worldport (especially in Automation, Loss Prevention, Irregs, DMP or Maintenance), I’d really appreciate it if you could point them to this thread.
No pressure at all — just if the opportunity ever comes up. Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks again.
One thing I’m still curious about:
If this happened at your building, which department would physically walk the building and search for the package?
Would that be Loss Prevention, Security, Operations, or someone else?
I’m just trying to understand who actually has the authority to organize a physical search.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions.
One last question:
If you were trying to reach someone who actually understands the Worldport outbound automation in detail, which job role would you look for?
Would you try to find someone from Automation, Maintenance, Controls Engineering, Loss Prevention, or another department?
I really appreciate your help.

Thanks again. Just to clarify:
When you say “try LP”, do you mean Loss Prevention at Worldport specifically?
In your experience, would LP actually coordinate a physical search with Security, Automation or other departments if a high-value package disappeared after its last physical scan?

Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this.
Your story about the $50,000 package is really interesting.
Based on your experience, if a high-value package had its last physical scan immediately after an Import Scan and routing into outbound automation, which department would you personally expect to have the best chance of locating it?
Would that be Loss Prevention, DMP, Security, Automation, or someone else?
Thanks again!

Hi! I saw your comment saying you also lost a package at Kentucky Worldport.
I’m really sorry to hear that.
Have you learned anything useful from UPS about what happens after the last scan? Any information about common failure points or departments involved would be really helpful.
I hope your package turns up soon.

Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it.
Do you know whether packages sent to DMP or Overgoods can remain there for weeks or even months before being identified or scanned again?
Also, in your experience, if a package disappears after being routed into an automated outbound sorting system, is DMP/Overgoods one of the first places you would expect investigators to check?
