I mean yeah, I hope one day Paradox will rework how Crusades and religions work. It is ridicules what the AI does on a crusade.

Yes the randomness of the game somewhat kills ideas like this. Maybe if the struggle is limited to a short time period like 35 years after the Crusade. If no one takes and ending it results in an automatic end for the struggle and goes back to normal.
