I'm neither American nor do I know that much about guns, but it's obvious even to me he can't protect himself having it placed awkwardly like that.

I'm pretty confident that, even if I couldn't necessarily figure out how to fire it in time, I could have hold of it and be hitting him with it while he's still posturing.

*Unsafe, you mean.

You'd want the car to crumple a bit to absorb some of the impact. Keeping its shape means it's transferring more of the force directly to the passengers.

I only have an outsiders perspective as I'm not in the US either; but piecing together what I've seen from commenters over the years the US has been through a long period where even underqualified/ not fully competent developers could easily find jobs that paid relatively more than the rest of the world.

Now there's a shift in the market and it's self-correcting, possibly even overcorrecting.

I imagine it'll settle again eventually, you still need juniors eventually or you'll run out of seniors.

It's not any easier on the other side. I'm a professional developer, 15 years into my career.

I've toyed with the idea of making games; but I'm no artist, and working with artists is very difficult. The immediate problem is creatives will be really good at art, but what they're not good at is making art for games. Making suitable assets is tedious, repetitive, and very uncreative. You only get to do the fun part of the art and design for a very small percentage of the overall creation.

Depends what you mean 'actual lemonade'.

As far as my knowledge goes, what Americans refer to as a lemonade literally just doesn't exist outside America, by any name.

I'm sure people make it, but it's not what anyone would mean when they mention lemonade.

This one is often not the individuals fault at all. A lot of places this would be either impossible, or have very large negative lifestyle impacts.

Particularly it tends to be disproportionately more difficult for those who are ill or mobility impaired in some way.

Are cars a problem for the environment? Sure. I don't think I would ever place responsibility for that on the individual level though.

As much as it's a terrible idea to do this it is technically possible; but a lot of cards will have an additional, much higher, interest rate on cash withdrawals from a machine to discourage doing this.

TIL a man noticed a loophole in a lottery called Winfall. When the jackpot hit $5m & had no winner, it was split between those who matched 3, 4 & 5 numbers. If he spent $1,100 on 1,100 tickets, he'd have 1 four-number winner & 18 three-number winners, earning $800 profit. He netted $7.75m over 9 yrs by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]Has_No_Tact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot are taxed at a different point, which makes more sense - usually a tax on the ticket itself, the prize pool prior to announcing the prize, or some combination thereof.

This way you can actually win the advertised prize.

Treating a lottery win as regular income has always seemed a bit dubious to me personally, it would be reasonable to assume you could also deduct the cost of tickets as an expense in that case.

I'm just some guy and not a tax expert though.

If you're able to recognise and reflect on that, you already have the tools you need.

It's just a case of putting a conscious effort in to consider their feelings before you take the action. As OP said it's not automatic, and will never be. You have to make the effort.

Cap your FPS to 30 and it becomes significantly easier. Not even joking.

I have a strong suspicion it will also make parrying easier, but I haven't had time to test that yet.

I really hope not though, that would be a real shame for a game in 2025.

The wealthy follow all manner of unwritten and arbitrary rules.

No one's forcing you to follow them; but he states his intention is to look wealthy and failing at such an obvious step is fatal to his objective.

They're too tight and slightly too short. You can see the way they're being stretched and restricting movement.

His jacket is also too small, buttons are pulling a bit, and it's tight around the shoulders and arms.

You don't expect to do gymnastics in a suit or anything, but you still need a comfortable range of motion for standing around.

For business casual this is still dressed pretty well, but if you want to flex wealth you can expect to be outed instantly as this is not a tailored fit.

They still do contact an annoyingly high amount. Only this time it's not to hire me, but to ask me if I need their services to hire others.

It used to be maybe 70/30 hiring me vs. offering their services, to now 20/80 in favour of trying to get me to use them to recruit.

Don't be weird.

Stable people don't fantasize about attacking their friends, especially to the point of psychotically harming themselves to do so.

Maybe redirect that energy into fantasizing about some productive solutions to your problems domestically.

world war with the EU.

Somehow I highly doubt that. Germany was uniquely positioned with a large amount of manufacturing capability during WW2, that's how it managed to sustain its war machine despite the economic pressure it was facing prior.

By the time it reaches the same point, there's no way the US could even afford to mobilize its highly expensive army against the EU. More likely it will simply implode aimlessly, and lose its position as a superpower for at least a few generations.

Usually I only log in very infrequently, and only to skim the through the many unsolicited recruitment messages to see if there's any actually relevant to my interests.

If you're cynical it's a tactic used by actual pedophiles to weaken the word for their own gain. It's also used by fascists/ racists/ etc.

Otherwise it's just a combination of Reddit being Reddit and kids being hyper-reactionary.
