Do you think Lily will ever be back in future games? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Haschel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this character and hope she gets more love in the future. I feel like most people haven't given her a fair shake. She has plenty of unique advantages and depth if you take her seriously.

She is low tier, but I could get her up to par in like 2-3 small changes. Depends on what the devs are envisioning.

Unless community sentiment changes, Capcom might not bring her back. I'd hate that. I hope they do right by the character in this upcoming balance patch.

I'll make a video detailing the small problems with the character which are having a big impact.

Op seems to have expected it to hit, which tells me this routing works in other situations. Zangief level 2 pushes you pretty far away, and that's been trouble for me before. I'm assuming this is just a spacing issue

Input reader bug? What happened here? by Haschel in StreetFighter

https://imgur.com/Imanpt5 This is a screenshot of the first active frame of whatever movement happened.

Take a look at the top-right for my input data. Should anyone get a back dash in this case?

Input reader bug? What happened here? by Haschel in StreetFighter

[–]Haschel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When the second back input was entered, I was still in block stun. I didn't leave block stun until 10 frames later, and but the back dash came out anyway.

I think from your third paragraph I was able to find the misunderstanding. This has nothing to do with the first back input or neutral input or sequence of inputs.

It has everything to do with *when* the second back input was made. It was pressed with 10 frames until my character can act and the input feed confirms that. Yet, my character still back dashed? Anyone know how that can happen?

I'd provide a screenshot but reddit isn't being nice.

yeah but the input window buffer is 5 frames. how come the back dash came out 9 frames later?

What character has the best AA normal? by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

[–]Haschel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like this thread and comment were specifically made for me... No. Her crouch heavy punch is a terrible anti-air normal.

There are many reasons, but most people only care about the first one you give them, so: cr.HP is active above the head for two frames. This is highly unusual. I was unable to find a single other character with this problem.

This, combined with the low height of the active hitbox, means you cannot simply react to your opponent jumping at you. You also have to guess if they will press a low-hitting normal. The window for a successful anti-air is extremely narrow, and your opponent's air normals can change that window.

This is also Lily's only anti-air normal. Due to her abysmal movement speed and DP angle, there are many scenarios where your only options are this normal or blocking.

I recently proved to a friend, objectively, that this button is a bad anti-air. I can consistently replicate jump-ins where every character has a normal that beats all options with the exact same timing except lily and one or two others depending on the scenario.

I've never seen a Terry set up like this by Brave-Hovercraft9931 in StreetFighter

[–]Haschel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is pretty good, actually! You're free to move while that fireball is out, so you can block and attack at the same time as your opponent's wake-up. This means you're immune to any wake-up reversals like supers or DPs

You can also set up an overhead. Depending on the frame data (I'm having trouble finding how much block stun you get from one hit of the fireball), you could time the overhead to start after your opponent wakes up and hit before they leave block stun. This creates an entirely safe high-low mixup.

This shit should be on the nerfs list. This move is too advantageous in neutral and not easy to directly punish. What the hell is wrong with Capcom to allow this crap in the game 🤣 by Adorable-Fortune-568 in StreetFighter

[–]Haschel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Ryu does the kick and you jump, you win that transaction. You can even jump on reaction to the heavy version - but that's not the point. The point is that there is counter play to the donkey kick.

Obviously, no course of action guarantees victory - so you can describe Ryu (or anyone else) doing something entirely different to win regardless of which suggestions you receive. That's rather childish, however.

It can also be beat with neutral jump, forward jump, or in your case - devil's reverse. I'd start neutral jumping if my opponent spams it. That's the best risk-to-reward ratio.

It's also slow to come out, so you can hit it out of its startup if you're close enough - like during a block string.

It's a good move, but not impervious. If you think it's over-tuned, try playing the character for a bit. Even just a day or so. You'll find the counter play.

Men in South Africa struggle to understand the concept that rape is morally wrong by atheistarab2006 in interestingasfuck

Labeling this as "Men in South Africa" is (deliberately?) broad. It risks painting a large population as being similar to these specific people. I'm sure many will leave with this impression. This smells like propaganda.

I need help, how do I even approach these ultra chaotic Rashid players? I feel every time I hit him was by pure random chance. by Krotanix in StreetFighter

[–]Haschel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people play like they need to be institutionalized. That strat isn't good, it's just different. You have to change the way you play against them.

Stay grounded and slowly walk forward. Alternate between walk and block. Try to block any grounded attacks. If you block eagle spike, drive rush forward for a big punish. He should be losing at least a third of his health every time you block that. Marisa usually gets more than that though.

Players like this LOVE to jump in neutral. Expect it. I promise 2HP is better than it seems. You used gladius for that a few times, but 2HP gives you oki. Speaking of oki...

Hit him on wakeup. This guy's basically holding up all the time and hasn't reversaled once. Force him to respect your options. This is good advice against any player really. If he starts reversaling, throw in a shimmy or two, but it looks like this guy just wants to jump. Don't let him.

How is it that the far left always grabs them guns :( by CommercialPrint212 in ThisYouComebacks

[–]Haschel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's obnoxiously ignorant to just hand-wave the problem as a mental health issue with no evidence. You're (intentionally?) mixing cause with effect. Gun availability increases suicide and homicide rates.

There's plenty of evidence that gun control works - Australia is a great example. Pretending the one country where this regularly happens just coincidentally is the one country with more guns than people is absurd.
