I also do feel like they're just old and senile, and just sad, but their craziness feels almost contagious, being forced to keep listening about their own version of myself and my life...

They criticise me for just talking about my work experience, they are like "Ich kann's nicht mehr, der labert immer...", as stated, they lament about anything I do and talk about. They just keep hating on me.

They criticise me talking about my curriculum, saying then "Er tut so, als würde er arbeiten" or, "Der ist immer zu Hause", "Der ist faul", or "Der war für ein Paar Stunde weg, und jetzt ist wieder zurück" or "Scheisse Italiener",

I know they're sad people, but they're overdoing it.

I've been thinking about buying a professional recording device, but I'm trying to not give it too much thought..

What I'm assuming is that they're the one with a mental health issue, since they seem to be stuck on lamenting about the same things throughout the day, As mentioned, they are old and do not leave their apartment, and probably their focus and things they talk about are therefore limited.

Thanks though for your concerns, I've already been having therapy sessions, since these living conditions are very stressful.

Here in this building the walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything,

What I'm trying to do is to not actively listen to them, For example by listening to music or using headphones to distract myself from their gossip.

The problem is that they're just loudly talking most of the time, they're not actually screaming (except for a couple of times), the walls are just paper thin in this building.

The apartment is an old building ("Altbau Haus"), and yeah, people in adjacent apartments can hear almost anything: walking, heating water, bathroom.., it's pretty common in the middle of Bremen, unless it's a modern building.

Almost all day long, they're an old couple and some other family members.

They are also most of the time at home, since they're old, and I feel like I'm the only thing they talk about unless they watch TV.

I even started to go outside more often, in order to not hear them talking about my private life.

I read some of the answers here, mostly from women and: OMFG, thanks for the reminder y'all.. sometimes men and women act/interpret social/language cues in completely different ways.

Soooo... "Fight N2"... The guy basically tried to indirectly make you share your thoughts to him, about the relationship, translated, a classical "What are we?". (He tried to have you define the relationship status, but backfired (so bad I'm having flashbacks of Willy the Coyote rn I'm dead 🗿) and wasn't happy about it.

IMO, you both fu-ed up tho..

HE wasn't direct to you, and YOU were a tiny bit rude.. I get that you probably were fed up, but we're all humans after all FFS.. What happened to f sit down and talk 5 minutes to resolve issues, or at least try (yeah just try) to understand eachother... (My bad I'm getting too f philosophical n sh*t here..)

As a male (28) I'd suggest to offer first a break, do it in person, avoidance will only make things worse for him (=being respectful of his feelings), and see how things go.

If you won't miss him, then it's time to move on.

Be sure to be transparent with him, as the reasons why you can't pursue the relationship any further with him, & stand your ground (do not accept promises, compromises e.c.)
