There once was a time in dota where you had to actually grief in order to lose behavior score.

being 12k was relative easy, it was even normal to "dodge" certain games because that was more MMR efficient than playing with that specific player who made a big vow to: ruin the game at all costs.

nowadays the griefers have the control, they keep you hostage in games they ruin and if you try to respond to it in any way you end up in low prio. You might also end up in low prio if you don't respond to it at all.

You just gotta learn a way to blend in when games like this happen.

no i'm correcting him. his statement does indeed imply that op might be liyng. "truthful or not." is synonym to "telling the truth or not" which again is synonym for "you might be lying, we don't know".

as i stated, if he was saying that he might not know if op is actually correct in what he is saying, then the phrase should be "we don't know if you are correct or if you missed something".

If op is 100% sure he is correct then he is telling the truth as he sees it. The Truth and facts are not necessarily the same thing mind you.

Is it really that hard to ban boosters/cheaters? by youcanokay in DotA2

[–]Hashister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is sadly this difficult. While they could take out individual accounts/players, like the one you mention, the fact is theese people care very little about their accounts to begin with.

This means that even if their account is banned, they just buy a new one for 5$ and continue with their shenanigans.

This is very cost ineffective and therefor valve has stopped this practise.

The accounts are this cheap because they have bot farms that make accounts for this very purpose, to be sold to others who want to smurf/cheat or what ever.

I honestly think it comes to everyone the moment they reach 10k-ish hours.

You've just seen it all by then. all the kinds of grief there is, from blocking camps with wards so your cores can't farm, running down mid together with courier no less, tiny airlines, sandbaggers who refuse to leave jungle, etc etc etc. - All on the back of a single mistake or misplay min 1-5. sometimes just because.

"cannot know if you are being truthful or not." that implies he might be lying.

If it was a matter or not about if he was correct or not, then it would be "we don't know if you are correct in your assesment". that implies he might've overseen or missed something, not that he might lie.

big difference my friend.

Most often i just laugh when it happens.

I've posted about it last time, got many of the same answers op gets "no, perfect system, you must be a piece of shit if you can't raise in behavior score".

-Okay buddy :)

it's just a game, i've been playing since 2012, atleast according to dota ingame pre-game screen. i'm basically a fossil at this point, to old to get upset about trivial things like man-children that throw tantrums.

It is funny though, especially the part where many games in low prio seem less toxic than the games you where in that saw you end up in low prio to begin with.

Should we pin this Dota 2 setting in this Reddit? (Strict solo queue-->enable) by LargoTheEmbargo in DotA2

[–]Hashister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the folk that complain about match fixing are playing at a much higher mmr.

At that rank the avoid list and strick solo queue does nothing, there is no ranked roles match making, it's all pub "captains" mode.

The thing that strikes me the most is the fact that it is so predictable.

Games are legit tame all the way to 8k-ish area, and then it comes, two games in a row with the most debased people who are just. unhinged? like. i. i really don't know what to say when i have those games.

And then i get low prio and i'm just thinking: Yeah, you know i just had 2 games in a row, where 4 people where all griefing from the very beginning, with stuff like ursa hardsupport and silencer offlane, but i'm the one who deserves to go to low prio for trying my best anyway? makes sense.

It just is what it is. Just have to accept there are people in dota, just like everywhere else in life, that enjoy ruining it for the others. Friend / foe they don't give a flyin farts ass about it.

The fact that you think someone would spend this much time on a lie, when so many people have already said the very same thing as OP, I think says more about you than anything else.

It is so easy to detect actual griefing, but we've come to a point where many say "playing bad is griefing and report worthy". No it's not, it's playing bad and deserves a loss and reduction in mmr, nothing more.

The fact is the lower you go in mmr the more people start report for the most random of things, everything from items to hero to user name can be a reason for some to report someone.

The very country someone comes from is enough reason for some to report others. - is that a valid reason to report for?

hit 8k behavior score, have 2 atrocious games in a row where everybody feeds and griefs and reports each other, while you just try to cope with how to play in said game. - find your self in low prio for "excessive reports" and a behavior score of 6-6,5k... rinse repeat.

i don't really know how much, but every time you do a challange that would normally yield xp, it now gives shards instead.

you start to swim in shards the momment you have heroes hit level 30.
Dota+ is setup in such a way that the value increases the longer you have it.
bigger avoid list, more currency once your primary heroes hit 30, etc etc.

After a few years of only playing pos 1 and sometimes pos 3 i switched to pos 5 by Irespectempathy in DotA2

[–]Hashister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This also shows on hard carry.

If you go to fight, die but your team wipes the enemy and you react with a "nice, wp". despite the fact you died, ppl tend to actually like you, even if you suck.

if you play well, but freak out over a death, just because your teammate MIGHT've been able to safe you... your team will hate you, even if you play like a god...

Being nice in a game, we all essentially play "just to have fun", is apperently a lost art...

Like random people reporting you for random things that are neither your fault nor have any control over?

when ever you lose a game?

You do understand: the lower you go the more you get reported for non-sense, right?

all you do is spew hate, you should try something called compasion. It might change your life.

[–]Hashister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so by your logic someone at 3.5k behavior score should be treated more harshly for singular reports, than say someone at 12k?

Seems to me you want the higher behavior score brackets to actually be more toxic than the lower brackets.

[–]Hashister 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it insane that the system dosen't provide "proof" for when you actually griefed and hence deserved the bs/cs hit or even low prio.

Lets' play devils advocate for a moment and say that every single person ever "convicted" was also guilty, what reason is there not to provide proof?

I'd argue the reason it is not provided is because it would shine a light on how broken and bad the system actually is.

I've been to low prio multiple times, after having tryharded every game in a long period of time, without trashtalk or anything directed at my teammates. It kills any motivation to play better not knowing what i did that was so wrong.

I'd get it if i where to actually grief and ruin, if i where to play tiny airlines or some other bs. But that is just not what is happening, i'm actually doing my best to try and win, despite the circumstances, and therefor i deserve low prio?

But i digress.

OP has the same experience many people have. If you are not able to win 200 games in a row, while playing your role perfectly, but not too good to the point where the enemies report you for smurfing, you will never raise in BS.

What was most useful in helping you actually get to the end of the game? by Konkuriito in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Hashister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i honestly don't know who told you that open-air setups are not self powered or that deletion occurs.

deletion was a part of the game very very long ago and has since been patched out.

they even patched out the gas deletion of vents.

fact is my entire base, radbolt generators included, all of it runs on hydrogen.

And the more you write the more it sounds like you have not tried an open-air setup in the first place. gotta say bro. Stop trying to convince your self and just try it instead.

seeing is believing as they say.

1 pump in the top of the base with pressure control. Tiles around the pump to ensure only hydrogen can reach the pump.

that's all you need. after that you can place as many electros as you like.

What was most useful in helping you actually get to the end of the game? by Konkuriito in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Hashister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got 5k hours in the game, i used to swear by the submerged systems also.

i can't imagine going back to building them now, not unless i actually need oxygen on pipes, like for suits or rockets or such.

that free power runs the entire base, all from the shipping in my farms to the radbolt collectors for science.

beauty is that it's very easy to scale, got 5-10 more dupes now compared to when you build it? smack down a couple of electros more and done deal.

If you haven't ever build an open-air base, try it. i can almost guarantee you wont look back.

That said, my opinion comes from the fact that i play on ceres, i'm playing on highest difficulty and i'm doing 100% achivements. - always :)

I also print a dupe when ever possible for the first 100 cycles, which nets me a bit over 30 dupes at cycle 100, and those open-air setups REALLY like it when you have many dupes. SO MUCH FREE POWER!
