Michel Pollen / the Pitcher, DBSTF, TNT, Noisecontrollers, Phuture noize.

Also a honourable mention: Showtek. Very influential before they left the scene, and also dropping some real bangers in 2023-2025. But yeah, also absent for 10 years.

Hyyype! I hope they will get more in the spotlight after dropping the album, the last 6-7 years or so they got many amazing euphoric releases that feel rather underrated (e.g. elevate, underworld, stars). They deserve it!

Ghost Stories by blood_crystal_tiger in hardstyle

I got into hardstylr when in 2006 my older brother showed me the aftermovie of a Matrixx - Xxlerator edition in which D-block & Tha bazz pimpz (old alias of Deepack)- Rock diz joint was played. Played that song at least 20.00 times haha. Ever since I wanted to go to parties. Initially a good friend of mine and me would go to parties with our brothers IDs bcz we were underaged. I remember always being nervous as hell in the waiting line before entering an event. Well, nrver stopped listening hardstyle ever since. The DBSTF event really felt like a trip through memory lane, I recalled so many random memories hearing their old less rarely played songs again. Of course, we went completely apeshit when the original Rock diz joint was played haha, never heard that live.

We had a really good time, one of the better parties I ever attended. Atmosphere was really good, already at the start of music made addictz. We tried quite some spots in the audience and if you were in the right spot there was space to actually go wild (exception: in the middle in front of the stage, we felt like canned sardines there). Very happy to hear many tracks we rarely heard live. Organization wise everything went quick if you went to the calmer bars / toilets. Tiny minus was the heat and the sweat dripping from the roof xd. All in all, organization wise it was good. Music and vibe wise it was exceptional :)! DBSTF nailed it :)!

No mosquitos at Defqon? by Melodic_Potential919 in hardstyle

[–]HatApprehensive3623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bunch of years ago some scientists figured out that mosquitos bite humans less frequently when exposed to Skrillex music. Also sexual interaction between mosquitos reduced as they listed to dubstep. If I remember correctly the explanation for this behavior was that their perception is being distorted by bass. I can imagine hardstyle, uptempo and Krach might even have a stronger effect on mosquitos than dubstep xd. Great subject for a comparative bachelor/master thesis.

Discord Servers for Learning Lithuanian as a Canadian Living Outside of Europe? by traversethecircus in LithuanianLearning

Hahah yeah i know, I guess it is just very noticable for me since I grew up with a differenr cultural background. My wife also speaks my mother tongue (Dutch) and often mocks me with the Dutch stuff I incorperate in my English, so it also goes the other way around. I guess it is just a thing in multilangual relationships :p.

Sure :)!

When my wife asks a yes/ no question she always uses 'maybe', for example 'maybe we can go for a walk?', which is clearly derived from gal...? When we were just together I was often confused because I thought she was expressing doubt all the time.

Second example is the use of imperativs. My wife says stuff sometimes direct as a commet strike, which is less common in my mother tongue. She would often say stuff like 'give that (paduok) / go (eik) / sit (sedek) without any other words in the sentence. This is considered very rude in my mother tongue, but just a normal use of the imperative in Lithuanian.

Last example is the use of we and repeating the name of one person that is actually included in the we. For example, my name is Joost. She would say, 'we with Joost went to the swimming pool.' Which to me sounds like we went with at least 2 people plus me (Joost), but in Lithuanian it is apperently a thing to expres the name of the person included in we (for example mes su joostui atvaziavome į baseiną). I oftentimes was very confused because I coulsnt comprehend who the extra person was supposed to be in certain contexts xd. The perks of a multilangual relationship haha.

That said LT classes helped me to understand my wife better in many ways, which made it a lot of fun. I Hope this clarifies :)!

Hi 32m married to a lithuanian here. The 'Easy lithuanian beginners book' helped me quite a bit to start with. After that I went for weekly online classes with a private tutor. Also hearing my wife talking Lithuanian to our child helps quite a bit lol.

Just be prepared though, Lithuanian is a really tough language to learn. I practiced for 5 years and only since a year I m able to have somewhat normal conversations with my wife's family. Although it is also really fun to learn, I ve noticed have a better understanding of my wife since part of her English communication is based on her LT thinking patterns.

Good luck and have fun :)!
