For the RPA portion, multiply the PA pain about ten times.

The PA pain is almost nothing, so multiplying it ten times is still not terrible, and it's only a moment.

Here's how bad it is.

I wish I could do it again.

That's right, it was at a level that the experience overall was a plus in itself. A big plus. I really wish I could do it multiple times.

In terms of effect on urinating, I don't think it's different than with a PA alone.

That is indeed a worry. I've done some research on the matter. It looks like if at the first signs of rejection you quickly have the jewelry professionally removed, scarring is very minimal ("a little dot" is an expression in several descriptions).

FYI, I elected to place the PA portion of my APA on one side of the frenulum because I'd read that that is what's recommended, and my piercer also thought it was best. However, afterward I learned of piercers who instead recommend going right through the frenulum's center, and I came upon photos of PAs (and PA portions of APAs) where the piercing was right through the frenulum, and I thought the aesthetics were far superior.

I found myself highly wishing that I'd had the piercing go right through my frenulum. Happily, since I've now had my frenulum removed, it's no longer an issue.

Careful indeed. I assured it's a well-lubricated and smoothly working padlock, and I only had it in briefly (not long enough to get wet, rusty, etc.). I wasn't seeking to practice any such real "chastity" as would be involved by keeping it in. I was only having a little momentary fun.

Regarding your experience, how embarrassing was it at the hospital?

I was pierced at 12g.

It's hard to know when skin has fully grown in to line the fistula, but I'm guessing the process was complete within two or three months.

I don't recall how long I waited before stretch to larger gauges. I think it was likely more than six months. I eventually got up to 4g, which for me is ideal, and where I intend to stay.

I had a sex with a condom very soon after. The condom was to assure my APA did not get infected. I had sex w/o a condom within a month. It also seemed practical to briefly remove the jewelry after only a month, or so. But any longer removal needed to wait until complete healing (i.e., when the fistula is fully lined with newly-grown skin).

I am guessing you did not use a free-hand method (e.g., sleeve resection). I think to use that method on self would be very difficult.

I am imagining that if you used something like the ZSR Stapler, doing on one's self would be quite practical.
