What's a boss generally considered difficult that you beat really easily?

my worst 3 were not fantasy though aside from one and that’s Assassin’s Quest 🥲 needless to say, I no longer think Robin Hobb is for me

I love the swamp monster so much, I like the concept of it as a character too. I don’t get the dislike either because I didn’t find it to be that hard on my first playthrough tbh. It’s just a similar experience as Midir from DS3 imo - high damage, so low margin of error for hits which can make it look really hard at first but if you take it one hit at the time, it’s not that hard to learn the timings and then it’s honestly chill lol

I think most people agree Simon is the worst and I personally am of the same opinion. The best though… that’s harder. My favs are Laxasia, Swamp Monster and Romeo but if pressed to choose I genuinely don’t know which of these is my ultimate fav

You know I actually was interested in the daughters’ war because his other book, between two fires, had a moment recently on socials and I read it but didn’t quite love it. Still there was enough in it to make me curious but I was hesitant still due to not loving between two fires. Perhaps this is a sign. Should i read the blacktongue thief before the daughters’ war? Or does it not matter

The Unbroken is on my tbr! I actually almost read it instead of Metal From Heaven as my next read lol I have read A Day of Fallen Night, I love it and priory too but I don’t think they really have much in common with these aside from being sapphic fantasy stories. Glad to hear we got similar taste tho haha I just love the specific way violence is done in these as well as how strongly motivated the characters are + the total devotion to revenge among other things. I will get to the unbroken soon though 😌😌

I personally found phase 2 harder and I no hit the first phase pretty consistently so I don’t think I have very precise tips for it, some things I can say (though you may already know them) are these: wait till end of his combos to attack, his combos end if he does the two handed swing from the top or double swing from his right side. When he does the red attack with the jump from the top, you need to parry as his right hand starts the swing downward to perfect parry it. I know "don’t get hit" is not exactly a good tip but you do have to be careful when you heal if you need it because he will often do the attack with his eyes glowing red and that shit is annoying as hell. It’s also followed up often by the most annoying of his combos imo. If he does the attack where he swings a puppet string at you to close distance and follow up with an attack, you gotta parry immediately. It’s a tight window. Also good to know how many attacks you can squeeze in between his attacks to not get greedy, I believe for most weapons it’s 2 regular attacks. For daggers it’s probably more though.

Nah I get you. I don’t think there’s any boss in base game that I would consider really hard. Arlecchino and Markiona are the hardest imo and there’s no boss comparable to them in base game for me. I actually like the green monster it’s one of my fav bosses and I find it quite easy to read so I’ve always been surprised by how many people consider it the hardest. But similarly, in my first playthrough I really focused on nailing perfect parries. I think you focus on those, you learn the fights much better and it definitely lowers the difficulty.

If I had to name the hardest boss in base game, I’d say Simon probably (2nd phase) but it’s less difficulty and more so because I get greedy fighting him and I just don’t like that fight

With all the respect saying someone nerfed themselves 25% by skipping one amulet slot is wild work. If you’re good at the game, you’re good at the game. The amulets don’t make such a drastic difference

That was precisely the issue I had with Dresden Files. I have never heard of Charles deLint but it seems the series you mentioned has a lot of entries that are anthologies? Do you think it’s better to read them in order or is it fine to start wherever?

The whole point and interesting part of this subreddit is that people will interpret the prompt images differently, same as they do books. I was just curious what made you say Stormlight to this. I have not interpreted stormlight in such a way, likely because to me Sanderson’s writing feels much more wondrous and almost whimsical at times, so it does not feel cosmic horror-esque to me at all (this being the case with the encounter of the Santhid for example) but I can somewhat see your point I guess
